Cruise Lines Adjust Canadian Itineraries to Protect Endangered Whales
Several cruise lines have been forced to reduce the amount of time their ships spend in port on itineraries that visit Canadian ports along the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The changes are necessary to be in compliance with a mandate issued two weeks ago by the Canadian federal government to reduce cruise ships speeds to 10 knots (nearly half of previous speed caps) in order to protect the North Atlantic right whale population.
