Rotary helps Texas flood efforts

The Rotary Club of the Villages sent $2000 to a Rotary District in Texas yesterday. The funds were from our annual funding events in The Villages, ie: Taste of Class, Poinsettia Sales , and The Chili-Home and Garden event at Lake Sumter Landing. At our regular weekly meeting yesterday , members dipped into their pockets to pony up another $2500, with promises to send more,

We forward these funds to Rotary Clubs and Districts in the disaster area that are close to the action and know the neighborhoods and folks who are most in dire need. No admin expenses are withheld because we are all volunteers.

Anyone can help . Just mail a check to our Foundation (501c3)

As of today the total provided by The Rotary Club of the Villages(Thursday morning) is $14,000. Funds were sent to Rotary lead efforts in the Texas Golf Coast and southwest Florida and the Keys. Approximately $6000 of this amount was raised in joint Rotary/Demshars restaurant luncheon buffet last Wednesday. Dennis Demshar and his associates stepped up big time to help those in dire need.
