As Hurricane Irma approaches and is anticipated to arrive in The Villages as a Cat 2 storm with winds over 100 mph, I think it's important to remember one very important thing. Because this is Florida and we all live in perfectly air conditioned homes with all the doors and windows shut tight, there is a danger of the pressure within your house being greater than the pressure outside as the storm passes. I have seen online advice that says it's smart to crack a few windows to let some air flow through your house to equalize the air pressure.
Absolutely not true. I have not seen one legitimate source which recommends cracking a window during a hurricane. In fact, everything I've read strongly cautions against it.

There's info on the internet that says not to do that.

just read this:
TAMPA, September 6, 2017 – Following rigorous scientific wind testing on a full-scale, 1,400 square foot single-story home in its unique laboratory this summer, the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) has important new guidance for all homeowners preparing for major wind storms such as Hurricane Irma: close all interior doors, in addition to all windows and exterior doors.
