Today as I was out and about and noticed many homes with flower pots both big and small outside their homes. Folks, these pots and hose containers can become missiles. We removed all outside planters and hose containers and relocated them to our garage. Unfortunately many of these homes belong to snow birds.

We did the neighbor's yesterday. They are snowbirds.

I've seen many homes with a satellite dish on the roof too. Am I wrong to think hurricane force winds will rip those things right off and send them flying?

After hurricane Andrew I saw a 6 ft. 2X4 imbedded halfway through a palm tree trunk.

I talked to a neighbor this morning who is leaving his hose caddies out. He said they're staked in the ground:pray: so they'll be fine. He also has these small bricks holding down his downspout extensions figuring they'll help hold the downspout in place. I can just imagine those bricks flying through my windows.Oh well I did what I thought was right by suggesting he bring these things in but he looked at me like I was over reacting. Can't force him to do the right thing....I'm of the mind to prepare for the worst and hope for the best!!

What I can't figure is why The Villages Golf Maintenance left all the rakes in the sand traps.

I would think they would have by close of business today. Didn't the executive end tee times by 5 this evening until further notice or was it extended till tomorrow?

I believe it has to do with aerodynamics. A sand trap rake lies in a depressed pit. So it would be unlikely that the wind would be able to get under it to lift it, more likely to just push it around. More at risk would be structures, overhangs, little white crosses, trees that either present a face to stop the wind or an edge that allows the wind to get under it and provide lift.
But of course, anything can and will happen, when mother nature gets POed..
