I keep reading and hearing about filling the bathtub with water to flush toilets. I've never been through a hurricane when the water was turned off. Has the water ever been turned off in The Villages? I've heard of a boil water advisory when the water is not safe to drink but to not have water available at all is another concern.

Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

I believe water is pumped up into the various water towers and then distributed by gravity. If electricity goes up, water can't be pumped up.

Filling your tub is primarily for flushing the toilet.
Use a small bucket to get water from the tub, pour it slowly into the toilet bowl (not that tank)...until it flushes.

As I filled my tub today, I remembered the person on TV saying that the tub would be a good place to be during a tornado. This left me with a dilemma. I opted for the water as not being able to flush would have been much worse than any tornado í ½í¸
