We came through Hurricane Irma with both power and water! Even better, the pond behind us filled almost to the lanai and the street in front is a new pond. Nevertheless, we are dry! We are grateful to the planners and developers for their foresight and execution of a safe community. Thank You!!

So does that mean that The Villages is responsible for the homes that don't have power and do have damage?

WOW! I can't believe after being up all night listening to the rain and wind, we have no damage to our home, pool etc. Some water came through our front door, but very little considering the intensity of Irma. We also never lost power. We do have some new ponds on the Yankee Clipper golf course. Thank you God. Hope all of you are safe.

In pine hills, no power. Thankful for no damage to our new home and of course, our safety and that of our neighbors.

I believe you are bowing to the wrong monarch? Thank God for your good fortune because The Villages fortunately was not tested like much of Florida

We got through it without any damage as well. One of our neighbors lost part of her shingles and another lost a tree but other than that we are in good shape but sleep deprived. That can be fixed with a big nap. There are (were) two ponds across from our street on Bailey Trail. Now there is one.

Lots of problem through the villages, sink holes, trees down, amberwood #9 pond flooding legacy lane pass Chatham (for what I could see no houses flooded, but I didn't go across the water), looks like the majority escaped. Yes, I agree good job all round.

Yes, there are plenty of homes without power in Spanish Springs area. Although I too am happy with the developer they have nothing to do with power being off or on during a hurricane! Duke Power is responsible for my power, so far no go.

I think TV may not have had a max test but it was tested upto about 75+mph (and a foot of rain) and passed 99.99%
Those that knock the construction etc makes me wonder if they didn't like or think these house were constructed well enough or to code why the heck did they buy/move here!

Lots and lots of roof damage folks. We lost 60 % of our shingles. The houses around us 5, maybe 7%. Different roofer maybe, but the differential is pretty hard to understand unless the workmanship was questionable.

Pine Ridge is without power. Leesburg Electric not responding to calls.

The average homeowner knows little or nothing regarding the construction of a home, particularly when you are buying a resale.
Homeowners in TV did not buy here because of the way our homes are constructed, and frankly, the construction is nothing special and just average.
Those who purchased a home here bought because they either wanted to move to Florida (no snow) and because of the activities offered here -- or both.
The construction of the homes has nothing to do with a person's decision and desire to live here.

Rubicon -- Exactly! You hit the nail on the head.
The so-called "planners and developers" had nothing to do with the "execution of a safe community."
Thankfully, those homeowners who sailed through the storm with no problems were just lucky.

Thank Mrs. Robinson, you get it. I spent many years in insurance both Human Resources and Claims. I have spent much time in cat areas over the years floods, hurricane hail losses tornadoes writing estimates, adjusting losses or managing claims adjusters in cat areas. You do learn a thing or two about construction, about contractors and about how devastating an affect it has on human lives.
Despite man's good intentions nature prevails. You are right about the construction of the homes.
The eye of this storm came right at us but by the time it reach TV the wind had sheared/ disintegrated. To my way of thinking The Villages of Lake Sumter, Inc. (Developer) had no hand in that major factor. I let others decide who to thank. Personally, I knelt down and thank God above.
