Cyberpower Back-up Battery for Century Link

I have a Cyberpower Back-up battery system mounted in garage which connects to the outside Century Link box. When I had the service re-connected after purchasing the house, the Century Link (CL) technician removed the battery and told me I didn't need it anymore, or they don't use them anymore. The system remains plugged in and will disconnect power to the box if unplugged, causing loss of services.

Does anyone who is using Century Link currently have a Cyberpower box that contains a battery? I am unclear why the tech removed it.

Chat is right, my CL box has a battery and we have phone and internet. In fact the only time it went out about 2 years ago, was when lightning fried the battery, but the tech replaced the battery and it came back up.
