Just checked Golf The Villages (http://www.golfthevillages.com), and the message tracking on the top of the site is that all championship and exec courses will be closed until Monday September 18. I've been driving around a little and from what I've seen, many could well be closed beyond that date. Havana and Mallory parts of Cane and Palmer especially are in very tough shape, as are Bogart, Bacall, Truman, Southern Star, Yankee Clipper, Turtle Mound.

Thanks for the update, my neighbor said the teetime system wouldn't accept today but did give him a teetime for tomorrow and he wanted me to play. So I just emailed the news.

After seeing a plethora of photos and the amount of water on a lot of the courses...I don't mind waiting.

If I'm jonesing for a round, I'm guessing there will be at least a few courses open by the weekend...off-campus.

Where does that saying come from "jonesing around"?? Never heard it before...

Good question on its origin...as I really don't know.

I just thought it was better than 'hankering'...in this instance. :D

Potential origins.

What Is The Origin Of The Term "jonesing?" (http://snippets.com/what-is-the-origin-of-the-term-jonesing.htm)

Belle Glade, Bonifay, Okeechobee, Sarasota, and Volusia are also so flooded that it will take days if not a couple weeks to make playable.

While many of us golfers attribute the amenity fee to the executive golf courses, many villagers don't play golf but still pay the same amenity fee. The amenity fee covers much more than just golf.

I don't play golf but I enjoy looking at the greens and ponds. It's just one of the many enjoyable things in TV and I don't object paying my share.

I'm thinking flcoguy's comment was tongue in cheek.....nobody would make that statement.

I really hope you are right. I just find some people to be so negative and bitter. Surprised I don't hear people blaming the Morse family for the hurricane... but maybe I haven't read all the posts.

Please do not open any course until it is able to handle the play it will receive thus creating terrible conditions. Too often courses are open after heavy rainfall and fairways are torn up by golf carts. We can wait a little longer and get better conditions long term.

Yea, and I heard that the golf Administration is going to extend the renewal date for trail fees for that period of time that people are unable to use the executive golf courses. So if your renewal date for trail fees is today 9/13/17 and the courses are closed one week your renewal date trail fees is extended to 9/30. You can also ask for credit calculated by 142 divided by 52 = $2.73 per week. so for every week they are closed they will reduce your trail fees by $2.73. :D

PLUS...do NOT drive your carts on the grass until they say you can! If you are handicapped (no pun intended) then maybe you'll have to stay home for awhile. I'm talking about once they open the courses!!!

Are any of the driving ranges or short game practice areas dry and useable yet?

Yup. That's my big fear. After seeing how people drive right through the areas marked "Wet", I am concerned we'll have ruts all over the place. There are complete fairways under water. It's going to be a while before they are dry and firm enough to support cart traffic.

What off campus courses have people played, if any? If so what were conditions like?

Thanks.
