Yesterday I was driving throughout The Villages and noticed something strange. None of the homes North of 466A had roof damage while there were possibly close to a hundred homes South of 466A that had missing shingles torn from their roofs including mine. The bigger problem is trying to get in touch with a reputable roofing company to repair my roof. No one is picking up their phone. Could be they have no phone service.

No one is picking up the phone because they are overwhelmed and inundated with phone calls, estimates and work.

Most of the issues seem to be related to poor workmanship.
You should refer to the other threads regarding the roof problems because there may very well be a class action regarding this.

I am sorry your homes are damaged and grateful you are not.

Graciegirl as I stated I didn't observe one home North of 466A with any damage to their roof. Yet there were many, many roofs South of 466A that had damage to their roofs. I guess your village is North of 466A. If so, it isn't necessary to verify the fact that not one home was damaged in your village. The issue is "why".

There were quite a few homes north of 466A that lost shingles.

I am posting these pictures pertaining to the loss of shingles on my roof south of 466A caused my Erma. I am not as concerned with my having to pay for the repairs as being able to have someone fix the roof before water leaks cause more damages.

Were the singles nailed correctly to the roof? If not, then I would appreciate the builder team quickly making repairs and then charge me for their time. That’s fine. Repairs need to be made as quick as possible.
I probably should not be complaining as many people in Florida are in much worse shape.

But before the builder sends teams to help others, I would appreciate help with a quick repair of my house.

I am N/O 466a and I lost hip capping. It happened during one of the huge wing gusts. Thought the damn roof came off. Now to find someone to come or at least answer the phone.

Not interested in pointing fingers or making blame, just want to get a few ridge-vent shingles replaced. I am located in Harrisburg PA, and will be visiting my home in TV (South of 466A) on Sunday. Looking for someone; handyman, contractor, anyone, who can do the job. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

None of the homes North of 466A? Not so. I live in a courtyard villa neighborhood of 80 homes north of 466, in the Village of De La Vista, and out of the 80 homes here, only about ten have not had their roofs replaced over the past three years. Every single home with an old roof (nearly 20 years old now) has missing shingles after the storm. Several are missing twenty or more shingles. All but a few of the residents had Scott Smith Roofing replace their roofs, and as far as I can see in my daily walks, none of those new roofs have any damage whatsoever. I am happy to say that mine was replaced in 2015 and it survived the storm well.

Hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like to me the shingles were not nailed correctly. You need to get a tarp on that at least until repairs can be made or you will get water damage.

I am north of 466a south of 466 and some neighbors in our area had the same problem.

I am effectively in the same boat, I am just going to drive down and replace the shingles myself. I'll buy two or three shades of my color and use the ones that match the closest. Yes it is a shame I'll lose hours to drive there and back but at the end of the day it will be done and I won't be waiting on anyone.

Removing the potential issue of workmanship, remember that a storm is not uniform in nature, so it can very easily impact areas differently. It is possible that the wind gusts were higher south of 466A.

It is unfortunate, but they are probably grabbing bigger jobs for more money. However, if they were "contrarians", they might be able to get many smaller "quick and dirty" jobs done- and actually come out ahead-not to mention generating a good pool of future customers.

In my neighborhood of 52 homes we had 11 homes with roof damage that needed to be tarred or tarped until the roofs can be re-shingled. The shingles were put on improperly. We are south of 466A The pneumatic gun nails were put into the plastic which is only a 1/2 inch away from the edge of the the shingle. So they tore right off during the storm. It is all improper workmanship. I think some action needs to be taken.......we have in our neighborhood with one complete roof replacement around $55,000 total of roof damage in our neighborhood.

As I mentioned yesterday, my neighbor and I were able to get in touch with Evans Roofing and George Evans come over yesterday and replaced the few missing shingles. He even have the correct shingles, although I hadn't told him because I have no record what was installed on my resale, and the Villages Construction office was not open. His price, was also fair. His phone is 352-288-3127. Good luck.

In Amelia a lot of us had our roofs replaced several years ago due to an error in Corning shingles shipped from Texas and not suitable for Florida weather. The roofer was really excellent-Batterbee Roofing out of Ocala

Agree!

Insurance may not pay for water damage if temporary tarps not installed after known roof damage.
