View Full Version : Driving directions to TV ?
In awe of TV

I know this was previously posted, but I cannot for the life of me find them.
Who has the best directions to TV from Orlando? I'll be in Orlando for business and want to drive to TV for a couple of my free days.
I want to enjoy as much as I can for the limited time I have. And I'd love to dance at the squares. Any advice would be most appreciated.
Would I be able to rent a golf cart for a day?
I am excited beyond belief! :clap2:

It depends on where you are in Orlando.
In any event, were it me I would get on Florida's Turnpike and get off at exit 304. Drive north on US 301 about seven miles to Oxford and turn right on to County 466. Drive a few miles to Morse Blvd. From there it depends on what part of The Villages you plan to visit. Spanish Springs would be left on Morse and Sumter Landing would be right.
Hope this helps.

From Orlando airport, take North airport exit to 528 West. Take exit 4 to Florida Turnpike North toward Ocala. Stay on Florida turnpike to exit 304 which is 301, go North. I would take 466A East which is about 3 miles off the turnpike to Buena Vista, turn left and take that to Sumter Landing. From the airport it takes about 1 hour to 1:15 depending on traffic. It's about 55 miles total.

Go to the Villages Golg Carts store at Lake Sumter Landing on Canal Street. They have lots of rentals. Last time I rented one it was $18 or $19 a day.

Good point from 12ride. To be safe, it might not hurt to call ahead and reserve a cart for use when you arrive.

If you are in the Disney area get on the 429 Toll Road and take it to the Florida Turnpike Exit the 304 Wildwood exit.
From Wildwood Exit #304 FL Turnpike:
Take US 301 North 2.1 miles to the 3rd stop light at CR 466A.
Turn right onto CR 466A and go 2.5 miles to 1st stop light Buena Vista Blvd.
Turn left onto Buena Vista Blvd.
Stay on Buena Vista Blvd.
And go to the 6th roundabout
Turn right onto Old Mill Run
Old Mill Run will take you into Lake Sumter Landing
This is the shortest way to Lake Sumter Landing.

That is hard to tell as there are a number of ways to get to I-95 depending which way you are traveling.
Playing with three routes that I have for my GPS I came up with the following:
74 miles via RT 40
134 miles via RT 310 / I-10
95 miles via RT 207 / Palatka
Not sure that gives you what you are looking for.

We just did this trip last week. The directions you gave are exactly how we traveled. The 429 toll road was so empty...it was as if folks haven't discovered it yet. Disney is a piece of cake to get to and from.

When taking the 429 Tollway to Disney from The Villages exit the Tollway at Exit#8.
This exit takes you into Disney past the greenhouses that they grow their many plants in. Hardly no traffic either on the 429 or this back road into Disney.
You need a current map to see the 429 Tollway into the Disney area.

Just checking--coming from the airport to Liberty Park: Is it better to take 466A or is 44 the best place to get off from the FL Turpike?

I think you mean off US301, not the FL turnpike. Take the US 301 exit off the turnpike, go north to 466a east to Buena Vista Blvd north to Liberty Park.

Buena Vista Blvd is now open at SR 44.
From the airport to Liberty Park.
I would Exit the FL Turnpike at Exit # 304 the go North to the first stop light which is SR 44 and turn Right (East) Then go to the first blinking light past Cindy Chevrolet and turn Left (North) onto Buena Vista Blvd and take it to Liberty Park entrance.
This way you will miss Wildwood and the construction on 466A between Wildwood and Buena Vista Blvd. I have gone this way since they opened Buena Vista South to SR 44 several weeks ago.
