I tuned out the 49's after the first one and I will not watch any other game until the players show the respect for our flag and country that they should. Our country is free because of lots of brave people who gave their life to allow them the freedom to play football and earn the mega bucks they do.

I served in south east Asia during Vietnam and was spit on by the public when I returned in uniform. I didn't accept the disrespect then and I will not now. Since then I have never watched anything with Jane Fonda and never will. Don't think I missed much. And if the football ratings plummet as they should, maybe these idiots will realize they need the viewing public or their paychecks will also plummet. I am probably in the minority with this opinion but so be it.

Tuning out completely, after last season I throttled down my NFL watching, now I'm out completely. Funny thing was I actually enjoyed my sundays not being tied to the tv and enjoying other activities. It's not the end all the NFL thinks it is to many of us.

Free Americans never bow or kneel in submission to anyone or any thing except the Almighty. Free Americans understand where their freedom comes from and the price paid by their brothers and sisters to hold that freedom. Free Americans are grateful to be living in a country that allows them to challenge the fates and achieve anything they can. Free Americans do not whine about "conditions" but put their backs into it to make things better. Free Americans do not care whether one is pink, yellow, brown, copper, black, or any shade in between because Free Americans measure a person by their words and deeds and not some stupidity thought up by bureaucratic government.

Until I see my fellow Free Americans in the NFL stand up and show RESPECT for our Nation and all it stands for , There will be no NFL in this house.

Thank you for you service first and foremost: I don't watch foot ball so I don't tune in But I did call my ex-husband and asked his thoughts because he too is a Viet Nam Vet. 18 years ago he was diagnosed with PTSD so he IS entitled to a point of view. Here are his views. (almost sorry I asked)

1. Hanoi Jane should have been tried for treason. She should have never been allowed to make one thin dime of American money. What's her net worth?

Why doesn't 45 have anything to say about her?

2. Cassius Clay was a DRAFT DODGER who became Muhammad Ali after he changed his religion to muslim and his conviction was over turned. Couldn't fight for this country could only beat people to a bloody pulp with his hands. He never should have been able to make one thin dime of American money. What was his net worth?

3. 2 Presidents pardoned DRAFT DODGERS and MILITARY DESERTERS Ford in 1974 with restrictions then Carter again in 1977 lifted the restrictions.

4. He thinks that people should be able to stand for 3 lousy minutes.

He also feels that bigger fish have been fried over the years, and the Nation has looked the other way and moved on, that's why Hanoi Jane still works and Muhammad Ali still won titles.

He also served for the right of the people of the Nation to be free and not oppressed, like they were in Viet Nam.

5.He has less of a problem with these guys and their protests, because they do feel that kneeling IS more respectful then sitting, then he does with the Neo Nazi, he hates them! He feels hate has no place here!

I still don't watch football!

No football in my home until things change. Look at the free time I have now! Thursday night, all day Sunday and Monday Nights. It is not a matter of race, rather respect. I don’t care what color person is being disrespectful, it is just wrong. I don’t have a racial bias at all. But I am a loyal American, and raised my sons to be the same. God Bless America. Standing for the National Anthem is something old people like me were taught to do as children and we did it cheerfully and willingly and proudly and often with tears in our eyes.. It is a tradition and a rule of sorts and until I die I will do it simply because I love this country. I will use my first amendment rights to speak out against issues I don't agree with at other times, but as long as I can, I will stand for the flag.

I remember as the Vietnam war dragged along and events like the Kent State massacrre were occurring some people did not stand during the anthem at ballgames. I stood, but didn't cast much judgement, because that was their silent protest. And I was sick of all the flag burning.

While many Americans treated returning veterans horribly it is also worth remembering how many times our politicians of both parties lied to us about Vietnam. Without protests of citizens including many returning veterans many more lives may have been lost in a unnecessary war. Let us all be aware, many in government still attempt to lie and or distract us from the real problems facing our great country. Whatever your politics may I recommend Ken Burn's Vietnam documentary on PBS. My admiration and respect for those who served was reinforced and my disgust for upper levels of the military and politicians and their concern for promotions or the next election was intense. Are protests pleasant to watch especially if they conflict with our views of the world? No. Are they sometimes necessary? Vietnam may offer an important lesson.

They had other choices to make their views known.

Disrespecting the National Anthem, the Flag and all who defend it is pure unadulterated BS!

Some feel if they explain why the players were doing what they did, that makes it OK to act disrespectfully.

And of course the media and the ever present camera is always there to amplify any resistance activity. It is noteworthy how they conveniently avoided the counter protesting fans in the audience.
Funny how that works.

As a staunch defender of our Constitutional rights, I see nothing wrong with the peaceful protests by a few NFL players, and I'll continue to watch the NFL on TV. The protests are about racial injustice & police brutality, and NOT about our flag, anthem, or the military. If our current POTUS was a true leader he would call Colin Kaepernick & other players, coaches & team owners to the WH for a frank discussion & listen to their issues & concerns. Instead he chooses to add fuel to the fire with his juvenile, bullyish tweets, and only widens the division that currently rocks our country. Sad.
