Why the Star-Spangled Banner is Played At Sporting Events - History in the Headlines (http://www.history.com/news/why-the-star-spangled-banner-is-played-at-sporting-events)
Have you ever wondered why we play the National anthem at sporting events. I found this interesting

Standing for the National Anthem is something old people like me were taught to do as children and we did it cheerfully and willingly and proudly and often with tears in our eyes.. It is a tradition and a rule of sorts and until I die I will do it simply because I love this country. I will use my first amendment rights to speak out against issues I don't agree with at other times, but as long as I can, I will stand for the flag.

Naturally, standing up for The Star Spangled Banner is the right thing to do.
Standing for The Hallelujah Chorus at Christmas is the right thing to do.
I will stand for America, God Bless America also.
However, God Bless The USA - I will remain seated. My right not to stand for it. Yes, I am a veteran.

Totally agree. I believe that some groups perform God Bless The USA just to get the crowd back in a set. The Stat Spangled Banner, America the Beautiful, God Bless America, and Pledge of Allegiance are my reasons to stand and appreciate their importance.

It is never the right thing to do when people decided to be patriotic just because it was suggested by the generation now dying of old age. I respect those old folks born before WWII and even those right after the war, but fact is, they had some very bad ideas on how things should be. It's Time for a younger generation to bring better modern ideas to the front. It makes my skin crawl when I hear the GOOD OLE DAYS.

It is a natural instinct to stereo type people so unfortunately, young black males have a more strict standard to meet when interacting with police.

Not that there is anything wrong with being a redneck

And so you have assumed the high moral ground which is always accompanied by arrogance and of course the sister to arrogance is ignorance.
Those "folks" you refer to lived through more adversity then you apparently are able to comprehend . They had/have intestinal fortitude, humility, moral strength, faith, ........ I doubt seriously that many of the younger generation could have met those challenges survived in tact and gone on to fulfilling lives.
