"SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico - U.S. President Donald Trump blamed Puerto Ricans on Saturday for the slow pace of relief from the devastating damage caused by Hurricane Maria, saying his government, which has come under fire for its response, was doing an "amazing job."
Trump took to Twitter early on Saturday to fire back at the mayor of San Juan, the island's largest city. On Friday, Carmen Yulin Cruz had criticized Trump's Republican administration and begged for more help, pleas that received widespread television coverage in the mainland United States.
Maria, the most powerful storm to strike Puerto Rico in nearly 90 years, wiped out the power and communications systems, making it difficult to get food, water and fuel around the island. The hurricane has killed at least 16 people, according to the official death toll.
Trump, who was spending the weekend at his private golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, said Cruz was attacking him for partisan reasons.
"Such poor leadership by the Mayor of San Juan and others in Puerto Rico who are not able to get their workers to help," said Trump, who is slated to visit the island on Tuesday. "They want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort."

It's impossible to change the minds of Trump supporters, they won't hear a word. I don't know what this nation is coming to with the divide into "tribes" since the rise of Fox "News". Globalization, immigration and changing social mores have been with us for a long time without producing awful political outcomes. What’s new is the existence of the fury factories of the right, from Fox News to Breitbart. Opinion journalism is meant to influence and inflame, and it does. Especially in an age in which civics is taught poorly (and, increasingly, rarely), people are politically suggestible. Their specialty is the communication of rage to an audience prone to histrionics. It can feel awfully good to be awfully mad. When nastiness sells, the worst rise. Anger is an excellent emotion for pushing ratings and winning elections and a terrible one for agreeing to compromises and crafting legislation.

Trump tweet from 2012....
"The federal gov. has handled Sandy worse than Katrina. There is no excuse why people don't have electricity or fuel yet."
What is amazing...on TOTV who always has words of sympathy...this island full of American citizens who pay billions each year in taxes and serve in the military, get not a word because of Trump, and guess that is because they are not white Americans. Cannot come up with another reason.
Ten days and 95% still have no power. On the main board they are discussing the problems with palm fronds..I attempted to interject Puerto Rico, but not one word supporting sympathy for these folks...not one.

Trump's NFL diversion was a ploy to try and take the heat off himself. What better place then in Alabama to start it rolling. But, that only works for a short time. Wagging the dog has been around for a long time. But, it still won't stop the investigation.

Actually, the president was at Liberty National this weekend because the President's Cup was being played there and he presented the trophy as presidents have done for the past twenty years. This event was on his schedule was months.
From all accounts, other than that of the idiot lying mayor of San Juan the recovery effort is going better than can be expected. The governor of Puerto Rico has thanked the president and even the San Juan mayor said it was going well until her sudden turnaround after a call from Democratic leaders.
Most of the island has power back on the most of the stores are open. The majority of gas stations are pumping gas. A few remote rural areas are still having problems. Those problems are due to the local agencies not getting the materials that the federal government sent out to those locations.
Here's something interesting.

San Juan mayor, perfect example of partisan politics first, no matter what.
She is a staunch Clinton supporter, which in itself is not the problem.
The problem is her infantile, inability to separate her hate for the other party, she let it get in the way of serving her people.
She is nothing more than a partisan lacky; the bad news?
Those who elected her must be of the same mind. UNLESS, their house is underwater, they have no water or food......then reality sets in.

It should be added that it wouldn't be wise to send ships down there while a hurricane is raging at sea.
People are questioning why it took a few days to get the supplies there. The answer is that the Atlantic was not sailable as Maria moved north after hitting Puerto Rico.

The extreme far right has taken over the false narratives and the completely false news.
It is then promulgated and believed.
WHY these people do not want to deal with truth, which is non political until it is made otherwise.
These folks, like this poster, read these garbage sites to make themselves feel good, because it is designed to insure their complete and total feeling of rapture with the current administration. Facts have become a nasty little nuisance.
Sites as the one used to post something like this are the ones that justify the daily, constant, and simply total hate speak from the WH.
I am still and will never get over a President of the United States attacking the mayor of London while such mayor is under terrorist attack, not after....while he is under this attack. Using the population base is not correct in this example. We need to determine what percentage of the population is eligible to vote (about 250 million) and then what percentage of those people are registered to vote (about 200 million). If someone has not made the effort to register to vote, they have demonstrated lack of interest.
I would also argue that those that did not show up to vote, support neither candidate so they don't count either. That leaves us with about 130 million people that care enough about the country to make the minimal effort it takes to get out and vote for our president.
If you are not in the game, you cannot be counted. So, 46% of the eligible people that actually care voted for President Trump and 48% of those people voted for Hillary Clinton.
But this is all moot since the president is elected by the states and not by the people.
Get over it.

And while they fall for and support these purposeful lies from these sites manipulating them, as well as a POTUS who displays sociopathic tendencies in his lack of empathy and decency, they steadfastly believe that this type of misdirection and misinformation...had absolutely no affect on the election.
I mean really...how ignorant can people be?

The "left" does the SAME thing...
Perhaps, but not with the support of the White House publicly.
THAT has never happened in this country's history, ie., spreading false news and having the President support it or begin it actually.
All, while attacking the free press, making felonious accusations, and mocking anyone who does not support him.
This element of untruths, personal attacks, mocking behavior has NEVER EVER come from our President or the oval office. Actually if ever I do not recall it coming from anywhere except political activists outside the normal realm of government.
A complete new attitude is being fostered in the USA. Truth has been pushed to the wayside. Each day we wait to see who our President will attack on a personal level
He creates the news and then decries the reaction. Change is fine but not based on pure self centered reasoning. Change is fine but needs to be based on truth.

I will wait to see credible evidence of ANY elected official, not just OBama, who exhibited to the world such mean spiritless and routinely completely mislead the American public....it's called direct lying.
And you can go back in history as far as you want. This President, almost daily, sets new lows for honesty and understanding. He again shows during these terrible disasters his mean spirited attitude and his self indulgence.
These traits are not new. He has exhibited them his entire life.
So, please let's hear one person who ever was so mean spirited, who has raised awareness through the world for the USA being so mean, nasty, and no longer someplace for truth.

First off, it is up to you to present evidence that this President is all you accuse him of. I have seen plenty of evidence of what you say coming from the left to include but not limited to, the Democrats in congress, the media, Hollywood and celebrities in the music world. It seems that we hear more words of praise from foreign leaders, for our president. The left makes accusations, but do not back them up with facts or evidence. What has this president done that has harmed or caused harm to our fellow Americans? What policies has he attempted or signed by E.O. that have been anything other than an attempt to protect America? And what "deliberate lies" has he made? Make sure that you know the difference between a mistaken statement and a deliberate lie.

I know....fake news......I have the Trump syndrome.....Obama did it, , media just makes up, etc etc
"At some point this week, the Federal Emergency Management Agency removed information from its website documenting how much of the island of Puerto Rico still lacked power or access to drinking water. Instead, our Jenna Johnson reported, the federal agency was relaying only positive information, documenting how many federal workers were on the ground and the extent to which roads had been cleared.
The reason for burying the bad news — fewer than 1 in 8 Puerto Ricans have electricity and barely over half have water — seems pretty obvious. President Trump has faced a great deal of criticism for his handling of the crisis on the island. (A poll released this week found that fewer than a third of Americans thought Trump was handling the Puerto Rico response well.) By conveying information that suggests the island is still struggling, which it very much is, FEMA would only be reinforcing that perception.
The government of Puerto Rico, however, is updating this information at the site Status.pr. There, you’ll see regular updates on a number of metrics, including electricity, water and cellphone coverage. It’s updated regularly — although it is in Spanish by default and lacks the trend over time."
FEMA buried updates on Puerto Rico. Here they are. - The Washington Post (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2017/10/06/fema-buried-updates-on-puerto-rico-here-they-are/?utm_term=.785b0ea56445)

You're right, he went out West to campaign during Benghazi. And wasn't Hillary accused of sleeping during the attack?
But, I guess playing golf upset some libtards, so Trump probably should not have been so offensive. Then again, he never claimed to be PC and did not campaign on that as part of his platform.

A judge ruled in 1998 that even if Jones' allegations against former President Clinton were true, it did not amount to sexual harassment, the New York Times reported at the time. "There are no genuine issues for trial in this case," Judge Susan Webber Wright of Federal District Court determined of the claims stemming from an encounter between the two in 1991.
Kathleen Willy
After Willey accused Clinton of groping her, the White House released a series of letters she had written him after the date of the alleged assault.
In some of these letters, Willey praises Clinton. For example, a letter written in 1994, said, “I just wanted to take a moment to tell you how caring and heartfelt your speech was on D Day. While you have had many shining moments, that day was, for me, the proudest I have been that you are our President.”
She also wrote that year, ” Dear Mr. President – You have been on my mind so often this week – There are so very many people who believe in you and what you are trying to do for our country – Take heart in knowing that your number one fan thanks you every day for your help in saving her wonderful state.”

Broaddrick later recanted her sworn testimony in the Jones suit under a promise of immunity from Starr, saying she lied initially because she did not want to be drawn into the case against the president.

First the thread is about the President of the United States warning citizens of the United States that there are limits to any help as they suffer.
How it morphed into discussing who is the worst predator escapes me.
Both Clinton and Trump preyed on women. Trump is now President, and thus immune to prosecution.
However, Trump is infamous through the years for his sexual preying. If you read the New York tabloids or listen to him in the Stern show, he has pretty much a one track mind.
He HAS on many occasions forced himself in women...he has publicly mocked his wives by relating stories about his "screwing other guys wives" (in quotes because that is how he described it).
He will say very little about the current Hollywood crap because he knows he is every bit as guilty as Weinstein.
But, to the thread, what makes the leader of a country threaten his own citizens with the pulling of help ? What does that serve ?

There ARE limits. PR is NOT a state. Are we supposed to pay for the $100 billion or whatever it's going to take? Why? PR is NOT a state.
Did they? Did they? OR...did women PREY on them? It IS the latter. NOT being an alpha...you don't know what it's like to turn women down. Both of those men had offers for sex EVERY day. Women THROW themselves at these men...every day. they ALL want the prestige of being the "big man's woman". NO MATTER HOW nasty or mean they are to them. These accusers were spurned...or thought they were...and sought revenge.
EVERY man has pretty much a one track mind with women...there are the "wouldn't touch it" and the "I'd grab that pussy". Every interaction beyond that point is related to which category the women fall in.
"Forced"...I doubt it. More like encouraged.
"Threaten"? Why do you say threat? What can PR do? A threat is when you want someone to do something and they won't...so you threaten them.
He's SAYING that there isn't enough resources to rebuild PR. We have TX and FL and now the fires out west. Sorry...STATES come first and when the money is gone...it's gone. It sucks being independent sometimes. I guess you SHOULD have voted to be a state.
"The people of Puerto Rico are United States citizens. ... It is a possession of the United States. It is a U.S. territory. But it is an unincorporated territory, and it has not yet been incorporated into the U.S. Therefore, it is not a part of the United States. Apr 30, 2015"
Picture a bunch of "American citizens" all living on an island in the Atlantic. An island not part of a state...just a piece of rock in the ocean...full of Americans. That is PR.

I believe you are being quite generous, in limiting your comment to just his obvious mean-spiritedness.
The real problem is that at his core, he exhibits the worst of human traits...and is proud of it.
It has become obvious to me, that a big part of his appeal for his hardcore supporters (thank goodness that is less than 1/3 of Americans) is that he makes it OK for them to come out of their heretofore facade of civility...and to let their basest feelings/nature come forth and be shown.
They feel that a huge weight has been lifted and that they can quit pretending not to be racists, bigots, braggarts, liars, embellishers, sociopaths, etc., etc., etc.
How in the world so many in this great nation can have such an ugly and mean underbelly...still astonishes and saddens me as a patriotic American. :(
That this is now being demonstrated in front of the civilized world...is the single biggest legacy that Trump will leave.
Sad.
