For any who aren't aware, the Sheriff's Office provides a free welfare check service for residents.

Sign up > call in between 9-noon > if they don't hear from you, they contact you or your designee to see if you need assistance. The phones are staffed by Sheriff's Office volunteers, and the service is only M-F.

There are probably neighbors/friends who already have such systems in place -- send someone a check-in text msg every day. There are a lot of people living alone here, and Life Alert and similar monitoring systems are expensive. :-)
