If the N.R.A. thinks more guns equal more safety, then Yemen should be the safest place on earth. It is possible there to buy fully automatic weapons, grenade launchers or even mounted machine guns. Of course Yemen is in the middle of a bloody civil war as a result.

I KNOW what equals more safety...more European white people. Always...every time.
As a result of what? Is the war the result of the guns? Or are the GUNS the RESULT of the war?

There goes the "intelligent discussion." With thinking like that, there is no need to continue to discuss. It takes two rational persons to make a discussion. Your comment does not provide common sense or reason. Two totally different cultures and governments.

Ha! We've been invaded by minorities. They're 51% of the population.
Whites will be 20% in 30 years.
America is on a slide into oblivion.
Go visit the minority neighborhoods...do they resemble 3rd world countries like Yemen? Well...THAT IS our future.

So the resident racist meets the anti-feminist....
Fat chance you could repeal the 17th amendment but hey give it a shot!
Passed by Congress May 13, 1912, and ratified April 8, 1913, the 17th amendment modified Article I, section 3, of the Constitution by allowing voters to cast direct votes for U.S. Senators. Prior to its passage, Senators were chosen by state legislatures.

We will never have any more gun control legislation except for perhaps a ban on bump stocks. If any good has come out of this latest tragedy that is it. I'm sure that Congress will pass a bill addressing the issue of bump stocks and the president will sign it.
But the reason that we won't have any other legislation is that no one in Congress really wants it. if they brought a bill to the floor that says simply, "The 2nd amendment is hereby repealed", most of those who voted in favor of it would not be re-elected. And they all know that.
Members of Congress would never vote to take away the rights of millions of Americans. They would pay the price which is why any type of gun limiting legislation will never get to the floor. If it did get to the floor, they would have to show who they are. Our representatives and senators would prefer not to vote on anything. Every time they vote, they lose support from a percentage of their constituents. That's why most of the controversial bills die in committee.
The Democrats would never bring this to the floor because not only would they have to vote for it, but if it passed, they would lose a tool with which they use to attack Republicans.
You have to remember, these elected representatives care very little about the people they represent. What they care about first is being re-elected and second getting and keeping their party in power. They do this through all kinds of legislative trickery that the public never sees.
They can stand up and make speeches all day long, but unless they are forced to vote on something, they don't show their true feelings. Sometimes even when they do vote, they are voting against what they believe in or what their party stands for. For example, the party puts forth a bill that they want to be passed. A Congressman knows that the majority of people in his district are against this idea and he stands to lose votes if he votes in favor of it. Once the party leaders know that they have enough votes to pass the bill, they will allow this Congressman to vote against it. He can then can his no vote knowing that the bill will be passed and he can save face with his constituents. This also makes him even more beholden to the party leadership. so it's sort of a quid pro quo.
This is only one example of how Congress works. Most legislation that might affect the outcomes of elections gets killed in committee. That public never sees any of these committee votes so they have no idea where their representative really stand on issues.

They don't want to lose their cushy job stealing from the taxpayers.
STATES repeal amendments...not congress...congress just asks.
Well duh! Elections are fixed...one of two who are already on the take...will get elected...so it doesn't matter which one. If voting mattered...they wouldn't let us do it. Our "elections" are as fake as the Middle Eastern "elections" where they show women with a purple thumb. They "voted" all right...but BOTH the candidates work for the same people! Just like here.

bump stocks were agreed upon by the ATF in the previous Administration by the same ATF that gave is Fast & Furious.
If Congress attempted to repeal the 2nd Amendment you can bet someone will file a lawsuit declaring it unconstitutional and taking it to the Supreme Court
In fact one of the solutions to repeal of Obamacare is to declare the "tax"that Judiciary (supreme court) ruled on a few years ago as being unconstitutional is said to be a manner in shutting down Obamacare.
But its as you said Congress is comprised of spineless, self interests people whose priorities are me first, party second and everyone else what can yo do for me.
