Children's activities - HELP!

Ok, I know that was a scream, but it was a scream. It looks like it will work out for us to spend Christmas in TV with children and grandchildren. Now it has dawned on me that we will need to entertain 3 little ones - 2, 4, and 7. Will it be warm enough to swim? I know there have been lots of threads about activities for children. I'm sure I wasn't hallucinating. But where did they go? I'm in a bit of a panic already. I obviously didn't think this through until the parents started talking about golf. Gulp! The little ones don't play golf.

Linda - I will have my granddaughters here the same week. I know Barnes & Noble has the play area for trains. I am told the square will be decorated and of course they will enjoy the music. Your older two children may enjoy movies. I have a Wii system I will be letting them use. They love riding in the golf cart andy maybe to see Christmas lights. I would also scout out some playgrounds (not the one in the Market Square area) - I saw a really good one in Fruitland Park for them to play at. All kids love a sliding board and swings. Uncle Donald's farm is open depending on whether they like that sort of thing. I was disappointed in it since it really is a farm versus a petting zoo. I don't know if the Villages will offer anything special for Christmas holidays for children like they do the camp in the summer. The pools are heated so it will be warm enough to swim.

I have been gathering a small list myself for when the grandkids come to visit. Hope these will help.
Silver Springs- mini zoo & glass bottom boat
horseback riding- JNB Horse farm
Raptor center- near Opopka
and of course Disney world etc.

I will pm you if I find out any others.

Nonie, you are wonderful! Thanks. Are you in TV now? For us it looks like we will be limited to a couple of weeks at the end of this month and another couple around Christmas.

One of my friends has said her grandkids love mini golf at Tree Tops. While the "grownups" play gplf, maybe you can take the little ones to play too!!!

Where is Tree Tops? the mini golf sounds like a good idea.

Lady Lake has a very nice playground, with lots of stuff for the little ones to play on. The playground has rubber mulch, instead of sand. It also has tennis courts and basketball courts. I take my two grandsons there (8 and 10). They have a great time. It is located on Guava St., in Lady Lake, next to the Lady Lake Public Library.

The Elementary/Middle School on 466 also has a good playground that I've taken my grandboys to, but their favorite thing of all is riding the golf cart. You'll be surprised what a hit it is with children. They also love walking on the boardwalk at Lake Sumter and looking for fish/turtles - we haven't seen the 'gator yet. Don't fret, they're going to love coming here to see you.

We've had some great days with the grand kids at the Polo Grounds when its not a match day. We set up a race using a soccer ball or just plain running. Depending on the age we have them race with or without ball from end to end, 300 yards, or side to side about 200 yards. It adds to the enjoyment if you tell them your going to time them. After two races at that length, they will sleep early and well giving you time to plan the next adventure. Great for Frisbee tossing as well.

Someone told me there is a kite flying area near Mulberry. We used to fly kites at the Polo Grounds but I'm not sure its permitted. Perhaps its just restricted on certain days. I believe on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the radio controlled model planes fly at the Polo fields. Our grand kids enjoyed watching. The "pilots" were really nice people who were happy to answer the kids questions.

You can buy a modestly priced radio controlled boat at the hobby store in Wildwood on 301 southbound, center of town. Great places to run them in the Villages especially up around the ponds near Spanish Springs. That hobby store in Wildwood has some great model planes and boats on display as well. The kids have had fun with some very inexpensive balsa wood planes (under $5, some under $2 if I recall) we purchased at that store. You know, the kind we used to buy for a nickle back in 19____. You can fly them almost anywhere. We had fun at one of the softball fields when no teams were playing.

Tall Trees miniature golf was also a great suggestion.

I believe the pools are heated so all you need is a warm day to enjoy a dip.

What about the boat tour at LSL? Thought the kids might enjoy that. But the 2yo is heck-on-wheels -- do they have life jackets? Lots of great ideas. Thanks.
