What is the best thing that you like about the Villages that your old home town did not have.

Hey CoolCat. You ask some great questions. The best thing is the pool is open until 11pm. Only two or three pools are. The best thing we don't have that they have in the old hood is SNOW. We went back for a quick visit last March and the minute we got on the New Jersey Turnpike :boom: SNOW and cold and pool was closed and long pants and a heavy duty jacket. It was terrible....:cold:. We have a Villages friend who chooses to live that way about half of each year. Must be for a good reason.:ohdear:

I will be thinking about that this when the snow starts in Long Island.

The people have a generosity that I've not seen elsewhere. A friendly wave, a helping hand, a kind word are always there.

My wife and I aren't residents yet, but every time we visit the friendliness of the people is what keeps us coming back. 99% of the people seem to just be thankful and enjoying their life, and they're not afraid to make you feel welcome in their paradise.

Best items here?
The Golf cart paths, bike paths, walking paths. We have a two year old, bought as a new car, it now has less than 400 miles on it.
Thanks to the carts and the bike paths. We only use the car to go outside the villages to tutor at elementary schools, just started the second tank of gas. Have very nice neighbors, quiet and plenty of exercises at the pools and at the Recreation Centers.
Can go out early, and no cars, no crowds, but have to hole up about 11 am to make way for the Happy, Happy hour-lets.

The over 1000 clubs. No matter what your interests or hobbies there are others that have the same. You can join, learn and make new friends.

We, too, are not residents yet. It will be awhile, but we will get here. While walking tonight through one of the neighborhoods, we encountered a resident, and ended up in a fairly long conversation. And it dawned on me. The weather is a plus. The golf is tremendous. The whole place is beautiful. But the thing that separates the Villages from everywhere I've been is.... you people! The friendliness, the helpfulness, the neighborliness of the place. It is definitely the people. I'm sure that eventually I'll run into someone disagreeable, but I'll be able to shrug it off as the abnormality. The idea that we can be walking through a neighborhood and actually have it feel like a neighborhood. Yeah, it's the people. Can't wait to be a frog.
