The surprise resignation of Ohio Rep. Pat Tiberi on Thursday marks the latest example of GOP members affiliated with the so-called "governing wing" of the Republican Party calling it quits even as their side controls both chambers of Congress and the White House.

Tiberi is the 18th House Republican to announce plans to leave Congress sometime between now and January 2019. More importantly, he joins a rapidly swelling list of House GOPers with influential committee assignments, close ties to the party leadership and pragmatic approaches to governing to walk away.

Rep. Charlie Dent gave us a big hint as to why, in announcing his own plans to leave. Here's part of what he said:
"I have done my best to make a meaningful, positive impact. As a member of the governing wing of the Republican Party, I've worked to instill stability, certainty and predictability in Washington. I've fought to fulfill the basic functions of government, like keeping the lights on and preventing default.
"Regrettably, that has not been easy given the disruptive outside influences that profit from increased polarization and ideological rigidity that leads to dysfunction, disorder and chaos."

What the 2016 Republican presidential primary proved -- over and over again -- is that the sort of paint-within-the-boundaries conservatism favored by Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, John Kasich and almost all of the other people that Donald Trump beat isn't what the GOP base wants. They want confrontation. They want controversy. They want people who view compromise -- of any sort -- as capitulation.

But if rank ideological tribalism isn't really your thing, Washington isn't a terribly fun place to be these days.

Change may not always be good but change will always be

Trump beat out 17 contenders who were no strangers to politics. He then beat the pro of pro's according to her party endorsement and their decision to ensure a 70 year old socialist would not continue his lead.

One has to ask why Trump prevailed? the answer seems to be voters were tired of the do nothing pol politicians and also because they did not like the direction the Democrats were taking this nation .

Trump is clearly different than this nation is so accustom. It is surprising to me that a man with his educational and business background is not a better communicator. and indeed he does inflict damage on himself at times.

However in fairness to him its clear that both sides of the aisle are resistant and obstructing his agenda because they want to see him fail.

He is right on Obamacare. he is right on building our defense. he is right about immigration. He is right about tax reform. He is right about North Korea. he is right about rolling back regulation. And he is even right about the NFL.

But a quarter back can't throw for touch down, if the offensive line won't block, if the receiver won't reach for the ball and if the opposing team won't even assemble on the field.

so these politicians leaving their positions want to play but find their quarterback does but their teammates do not

Personal Best Regards:
