Hi! We own a home in Amelia, but are only able to visit for a few weeks at a time. We won't be permanent Villagers for a few more years. The last few times we rented a golf cart from The Villages Golf Car shop in LSL, the cart has been in pretty poor condition. They've squeaked, and don't have much power. Do any of you know of another place to rent a golf cart from? We are planning to be at TV for 2 weeks in late November, and would really love to rent a better quality golf cart. Thanks for any advice!

Hi Tracy,

We are in the same situation. We tried someone we saw in the Daily Sun online in the summer and the cart was better than what we rented from the Villages previously. However, we were not terribly happy with the service or condition of the cart. We will be back the week of Thanksgiving and are trying Reid's Rental this time around. http://www.reidsreliablecartrentals.com/

We are just going to try different rental suppliers until we find someone we like. I think I found a link to Reid's on TOTV. Good luck!

I'm renting an EZGO electric from H&H rentals (daily online Sun) in early November, it's got the AC drive. I'll give feedback on the experience in a few weeks.

Thanks to both of you. I'll watch for your reviews. Did you find the prices competitive? I found this website when doing a search, I may also consider them. www.villagesgolfcartman.com

The Villages recently rented to a friend of mine, it was $85 for a week for a 2 seat gas and it was not a very good cart.

H&H quoted me $95/week for a 2008 EZGO electric (AC drive, which I wanted), and has enclosures, includes delivery and pickup. That's for the 1st week of Nov. I'll let you know what I think about it in mid Nov.

Hi Traci,
I also rented from LSL and the golf carts are slow and smell from the gas. It was not an enjoyable rental experience. Plus you have to pick it up and return it yourself. If you don't have a car or someone to depend on for that task it creates issues. Back in May I rented from NVR Fail, very good experience. I believe the owners sold that business and left the area of TV. I currently have a 4 seater reserved from "Affordable Cart Rentals" which I will be using next week. Does anyone have experiences with them? Thank you...

H&H - the rental process itself was fine, but the cart was a real clunker.
Just my experience.

Try Jim Followell at 352 259 7525 he has several nice carts for rent.

We just rented from Jim a few weeks ago for the first time per this thread. Very reasonable but he seemed to have mostly gas carts and just a few electric. I would still give him a call as it seems he is always getting more carts in. Very nice person.:clap2:

I have used Grandpa and Grandmas Village Buggies and have been very pleased. My sister has used them numerous times and will continue to use them.

My first vote would go to Jim Followell. His carts are in good condition; his rates are reasonable; he's quick to fix any problem and help you out. I've had clients who have used grandmaandgrandpa and have been very happy with their carts and service.

My basic attitude is almost anyone is better than renting from The Villages -- their carts are rarely in decent condition, go way too slow and are most definitely overpriced.

Just rented one today from Jim Followell for my son who is coming to visit for the holiday weekend. Nice guy, good rate. I paid his partner for 6 days, and a few minutes later he came chasing after me to give me back money - he said 5 days counts for a week - so he gave me one day back.
The cart is gas, but that works for me. Since Jim doesn't pay for the gas (he asks that you return it full), it's got to be much less mainetnance than replacing batteries every couple of years.

I do not mean this as something serious since it does not deal with health or any other serious matter. I also rented a golf cart from LSL as we were having family visit for a few days. I took it back after one day as (1) people could almost walk faster than it ran and (2) it was really dirty and at the price I did not feel it was my responsibility to take the time to clean, wash and vacumn it. I expected the gas smell since that would be something which would happen with gas.
When I returned it I mentioned my concerns and was told I was wrong. It was really funny as here I am the customer, unhappy and I am wrong. I guess they have not heard of Stu Leonards in Conn. They are a rather large market and they have only 2 rules for their employees. The first rule is the customer is always right and the second rule is to refer to the first.
The person actually started to engage me in an argument and I refused to participate as it would have been a waste of both our time.

A couple of years ago we had friends visit and rented a cart for them from Don's Golf Carts. They delivered and picked up. The cart was electric and went 19MPH and had curtains. Rented for $350 for a month. We were very satisfied with the rental. That was 2 years ago. Their phone number is

Grandpa and Grandmas great service and you do not have to worry about that cart being slow. Do not even need to be there when they pick up. Great people:clap2:

Thanks for all of your replies, but this thread that I started is actually from 2009. : ) Since then, we've bought a new house in Buttonwood, and we are 8 months from moving there. The responses are still useful, though, since we haven't bought a golf cart yet.

Want a good place to rent a golf cart? We just had a 5 day rental of 2 four-seater gas carts from Jim Followell. Pick-up and delivery were smooth and on time. Couple of seat belts on each so we felt safe with the grandkids on the back seats. Nice curtains (since it rained every day, we sure used those)! Recommend highly-and have already booked another rental with Jim. Call 352-259-7525 and check it out.
