It is everywhere.
I just read this. Can anything stop this horrible thing? Senior citizens have a lot of pain.

It is everywhere.
How much if any is happening here in your opinion? I heard from a source I trust of a situation in another neighborhood of someone who went from doctor to doctor to get opioids.

Pain is a very real thing as is opioid addiction. I have friends (not here in TV) that are highly dependent on opioids to control the pain they have to deal with from day to day. Are they addicted ? Probably. Are they going around the system to acquire additional doses ? I don't know. Makes medical marijuana for pain relief seem not too bad as an alternative though.

A fraternity brother died from an opiate overdose a few years ago. He had a long history of substance abuse and had been through rehabs, to AA and so on. As far as I know he did not suffer from pain because I point blank asked him and got no response. He did relate to me how he shopped several doctors before he found one to give him an opioid prescription (Those pills were HUGE!). That is one type of situation.
The other is people who are in constant pain can become desperate. It has to be terrible to suffer relentless pain. I can fully understand how they seek pain killers for relief and become dependent upon them, sometimes to the extent they mortally overdo them.

I could make a joke, but this is no laughing matter, it is destroying lives and families.

Medicinal MJ is the way to go. It works, and big pharma does not win, you do.

Agree to the basics of it but how do you control abuse and there will be widespread abuse as there already is.

So you are in fact asking for unverified abuse of opioids...aka: gossip....you should be ashamed of yourself. Like there aren't enough crappy real stuff going on and you want people to pass along stuff they aren't sure about...find another hobby.

Credible studies have shown that the use and abuse of opioids
is a huge problem across America, so you can be sure a fair amount is happening in TV.

I realize that is how my post was worded.I have changed it. I didn't mean to gossip about it. I wanted to discuss the problem generally.
In a nice area in Ohio, literally thousands of deaths are happening in an area that is not high crime from opioids and heroin and some other awful stuff from China.
The president talked about opioid use today, and it was on my mind. Especially since as we age, we have a lot more pain.

It's a good fair topic to discuss and if I remember correctly there have been, in recent weeks, arrests of people within TV having illegal opioids. Remembering also that not everyone living here is 55 and older.

As a person who has had numerous surgeries and joint replacements I can speak to how NOT to become addicted to opioids. Your body has pain receptors and pleasure receptors, if you only take enough to hit your pain receptors you will not become addicted. However, if you take enough to hit your pleasure receptors you can become addicted.
My last surgery was a Total Reverse Shoulder Replacement, quite painful, the doctors office monitored my pain meds carefully. I still have some left over.

America is the number one country for opioid over prescribing by doctors, and opiod abuse in general.
