Surprise! It's Halloween, October 31st, and the Christmas tree is up and fully decorated at the Canal Street Rec Center.

Bah! Humbug. I direct that at the cultural and commercial event called Christmas, not the religious observance.

Anymore, it's a joke regarding any of the holiday decorations throughout the year.
I was talking to a manager at one of the Costcos and we were talking about just that -- the Christmas decorations.
He said they would be sold out by December 15th.
I said he had ten days left and he just shook his head and said no -- it would all be gone.
And besides that, it had to be gone because he had furniture coming back in then.
Knowing Costco, they know what they are doing!

My husband took my picture with a snowman at Costco on September 21st.

Christmas decorations were on display and for sale in Sam's Club in late September. As for me, my tree and lights go up the day after Thanksgiving and come down Jan 2.
I love Christmas as a time for families and friends to get together and for children to get gifts. Having it around for three months makes it less special when it finally arrives.
Fie on the big box retail industry for ruining Christmas.

I thought I saw Santa driving a Chevy pick-up on 301 on Monday.

I think they put them up early because they want them up for all of the holiday parties and there is such a rush after Thanksgiving to do it all best get it done early.

I understand stores putting up decorations early (although pre-Halloween is a bit too early), but there is no reason to see Christmas trees in the rec centers before Dec. 1st. One holiday at a time, please. They're more fun that way.
