Hi, we are going to be in the Villages this year for Thanksgiving and was wondering where would be a nice place to go for Thanksgiving Dinner. We are looking for turkey dinner with the usual fixings. If you know of any country clubs or restaurants advertising/serving turkey dinners we would appreciate hearing from you.
Thanks,
Bob

The village daily sun has had ads for Thanksgiving dinners. Most of the country clubs seem to be having them.

There are many choices. If your family does traditional dinner, many restaurants have that fare. My family has vegetarians , children who eat non traditional foods, one who does not do dairy, one who only eats fish, etc. I booked the buffet at Bonifay. They have lots of choices. That saves a lot of separate dinners to prepare.

I called a lot of places and asked if they had vegetarian choices and they actually suggested the salmon! I explained vegetarians eat nothing with "faces". It’s always a challenge. LOL

Please let me know if you find a good place with lots of fresh vegetables. Thanks.

Cody’s served pressed turkey. More like lunch, eat. I was the only dummy to get it. Never again. Rest of family had ribs, burgers, etc. crowded, noisy and a sad experience

we've been watching the newspaper daily for Thanksgiving ads and very little has appeared so far. This is our first year without family and never had to look for somewhere to have Thanksgiving dinner.

" Cody' " You cannot possibly be serious. Last year our neighborhood went to Cody's what a joke .

Everyone who ordered turkey got 100% the exact same plate. When we asked where is the dark meat? The reply oh we ran out,
yeah right. The meat obviously was out of the bag the slices were the exact same size. Honestly pretty pathetic.

The place is a dive :plane:

Whatever! Don't like it, don't go. No need to question whether I'm serious or not.

If you can still get a reservation the Mission Inn at Howie in the Hills is just wonderful and has something for everyone... a trully elegant buffet

Just my opinion, they're a lot more expensive than most of the country clubs!

I would say one of the Country Clubs, depends how much you want to spend, not one of the chains!

We have gone to Amelia's Restaurant at the Waterfront Inn for the past 2 Thanksgivings. They had many of the traditional Thanksgiving foods (Buffet Style) turkey, sides, and desserts. Very good food and a pretty setting. I just didn't like that they automatically added a 20% tip to our check for a buffet meal where I served myself. We ordered and received drinks from our server, and that was it. At least I didn't have the cooking and clean-up to worry about...but no leftovers either!

I think buffets are more work for the server. They are constantly picking up dirty dishes from the tables, still getting coffee, water, etc.

We eat at the new restaurant at least once a week and they are from expensive. Entire Thanksgiving dinner including soup or salad and dessert under $35
The regular menu almost every dish is 20 or under.

Whatever you do wherever you go you will be disappointed, waiting , lousy food, the buffet's are a joke. The following year you will post your comments on how disappointed you were should you decide to go to XYZ.

So here's what to do: Go to Publix order a Turkey that is oven-baked , various choices for the sides, or you can just get the fully baked turkey and do the sides yourself.

Save yourself all the aggravation, Honestly not worth it.

PS: " Cody's " They still have peanuts on the tables and people routinely toss the spent shells on the floor....Classy Joint

On the bright side the gratuities are usually pretty good, plus again on the " Bright Side " the staff are going to work knowing exactly what it will be like.

I guess I shouldn't knock them because the last time I was there was when the old owners had it, I forgot Havana got new owners about 2 or 3 months ago. The last time we ate there, I got mac & cheese/w about 6 little pieces of lobster & it was $21.50. How many does $35. feed? I'm guessing 2, that's $17.50 per person.

The price is per person. Where would you get soup or salad an entree with several side dishes and dessert for 17.50? The price is more than reasonable per person. There were several choices 30 and under.

No, I just asked if it was for 2 people & it doesn't make any difference how much of the cheap extra's you get, but really $35 for one person & one meal. Now this is just my opinion, but who would pay (husband & wife) $70. for to meals, you couldn't eat enough to get your monies worth. The only other places I could think of to pay that much would be Nancy Lopez & Palmer. I would think a lot of other people would agree with me, $35. for ONE meal is expensive even if it was all you can eat. Sorry, to disagree but I'm sure it's very good but I think most people here in TV would agree. SORRY! Have a great Thanksgiving & a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, God Bless!

The most expensive is 35 for a ribeye steak and a lump crab cake. Certainly within reason for a good meal. I guess we are from different ares of the country. Where we moved from we would have thought we we were getting a bargain.

Thank you! That was what I was getting to. Yes, you're right, different parts of the country are different. I guess I lived in one of those cheap areas, LOL. Just seems a little expensive. I always said if you want good steak, go to a steak house, if you want good pasta, got to a Italian resturant. Guess I have a different way of thinking.

We spent the week in Clearwater Beach and the hotel restaurant was excellent. Fresh fish made their own pasta, desserts etx. The entrees started at 25 and went up to over 40. Locatio, location, location.
The food was excellent and so was the service.

Thanks for exchanging opinions but I guess we have different idea's about what we like & what we like to spend. You have a wonderful Thanksgiving & you & your family have a very Merry Christmas! God Bless:icon_hungry:
