Democrats projected to win governor's races in Virginia, New Jersey - ABC News (http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/live-updates-democrats-projected-win-governors-races-virginia/story?id=50981062)
I am not a party loyalist judging a candidate on their own individual record and policies but it is nice to see Donald John Trump to have his policies and character not exactly helping the Republicans win Governor races. :BigApplause:
Only Northern VA is heavily Democrat; the rest of it leans Republican according to my native VA sister-in-law.

Well after losing over 1,100 seats nationwide during the Obama era, it's no surprise that they would eventually gain a few back..

Yep. Control of congress over time swings like a pendulum. By and large it has absolutely no impact on my life. If it wasn't for the media fueling all the discord politics wouldn't really even matter.

Democrats sweep in Virginia, New Jersey - CNNPolitics (http://www.cnn.com/2017/11/07/politics/2017-us-election-highlights/index.html)
Funny how Donald John Trump has became kind of a load of rocks for many REPUBLICAN candidates.

How does a minority representation fulfill the general condition?
It does not! However, a win is a win. Savor them while ye can!
As was said above if it were not for the media injecting politics in our lives it would be what it really is....a non event.
Bragging about who controls the congress is a self gratifying need. In the years of identity politics it does not matter who is in control of the congress as the performance does not change.
Regardless of R or D still remains a do nothing, party contrarian, bunch of past their prime, prima donnas with only one objective in mind......retaining their job for life on the backs of the fools who continue to re-elect them.

You are of course correct but how do we change it or is apathy and ignorance just going to cause country to crash and burn. Again I may be over stating it but polititians being able to spend without taxation is what is going to be the Waterloo of the country. Look at the two governors races yesterday, both won by promising largesse to a group of voters. Without a forced balanced budget Republicans will continue to lose. The system now allows no consequences at ballot box so we continue to re-elect the same bunch for life. No tough decisions have to be made. IMO

Its a great day for Democrats and for the American people. People are rightly thumbing their noses at Trump and his ridiculous policies. Its Mueller Time!!

Good reply Paper...
America is gone in 30 years...
An 80% minority America is unsustainable. A population where more than half collect benefits is unsustainable. A government that owes $20 trillion and goes another $ trillion in debt EVERY year...is unsustainable.
Politicians spend BECAUSE those who gave them money to get elected want payback. EVERY tax dollar, EVERY dollar that the government borrows...ends up at the corporations/banks/someone's pocket. The politicians are helping their "friends" steal over a $ trillion each year...and giving "us" the citizens the bill. Over $3,000 for each man woman and child is added every year. We collectively all owe over $60,000 a piece.
America is bankrupt, surviving ONLY on unpayable debt and ripping off other countries and their people. It ends within 30 years...I hope it lasts until I'm gone...it will NOT be pleasant...especially when you're old.

What's so great about it? The sun still came up in the same place. My coffee was still hot and I'm still going to work.. Nothing has or will change. Keep feeding into the us vs them mentality. Sheep..

Until it collapses...it always does...this time isn't different. Every great civilization thought it would go on forever thay they were the ultimate peak...until one day they weren't.
Within 30 years our collapse comes. America cannot support a population that is 80% minority, most on welfare.

And although I have Don Baldwin on my ignore list and can't read his post, I'll bet he is frothing at the mouth. Here's why: Early on Election Day, America’s Voice published a blog post featuring some of the worst, anti-immigrant and racist ads put out by Republican candidates and their anonymous backers to attack Democratic opponents in various states. By the end of Election Day, every single one of the Republicans those ads were meant to bolster, lost.

So, anti-immigrant & racist ads must appeal to republicans if republicans are floating these ads. So, republicans including those who post on here are in fact racists. Who would’ve thought ?

I honestly think MOST Republicans are solid, upstanding citizens who would be appalled to be called racists. The problem is that Trump's base have been so conditioned (by Fox, for instance) to fear ....well, everything. I've read a lot of psychoanalysis regarding the kind of people who gravitate toward authoritarianism and the qualities that Trump displays. They had a strong father figure, etc. It's been proven with brain scans that conservatives react more strongly to fear than liberals do. Almost every day Fox plays to that fear. I think Fox and right wing radio have a lot to answer for with regard to the upsets that are tearing the country apart right now.

I come from a Republican county in a Democrat state. Worked in an occupation that consisted of mostly Republican minded people. I know these people very well. When it comes to talking about people from other races and minority religions I know how they think by what they say, in private. By any measure in thought and deed, they are racists.

I've spent 30 plus years in Georgia. It kind of depends, I believe, on the socio-economic class. I never ever heard one of MY friends say anything racist, and blacks were welcomed in our social groups. However, I was shocked to overhear a couple of acquaintances one day...disgusting conversation from a couple of "ladies"...who had no idea they were racist pigs. I suspect any racist friends of mine kept it quiet around me, lol. I am not known for tact.

Socio-economic depends are where you live. Northern states with strong unions produce a fairly well off strong middle class of people working in occupations that would be considered lower class in the southern states that have little union representation for workers.

You nailed this pretty well. He feeds on feeding fear. Of immigrants, of blacks, of Hispanics, as does Fox.
I think Fox will pay dearly for what they have become.
I didn't offer much more, but your "read" on he and Fox is so spot on, I felt it needed reinforcement.
I do fear that Trump is desentising the country as with Fox, and his systematic disregard for truth will thrust us into something very difficult to overcome post Trump.
