You just made my day.
This is right up my alley - being able to go out for healthy food.

I could care less that all their food is gluten free but if they bring a pan asian food flavor to this meat and potatoes centric community (not that there's anything wrong with that:D), I'm all for it!

There was a restaurant similar to this in Indy. It did well. However, this is not my “cup of tea”. I hope the restaurant will do well here.

Be careful of jumping on the 'gluten-free' bandwagon, thinking that it is automatically healthier...unless you have been diagnosed with celiac disease.

Most People Shouldn't Eat Gluten-Free - Scientific American (https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/most-people-shouldnt-eat-gluten-free/)

If you embrace such a diet, you'll end up "eating a lot of foods that are stripped of nutrients," Tallmadge said. Studies show gluten-free diets can be deficient in fiber, iron, folate, niacin, thiamine, calcium, vitamin B12, phosphorus and zinc, she said.

"You can eat a healthy diet without gluten, but you have to be very knowledgeable, and most people aren't," Tallmadge said. People who go gluten-free may feel better because, to avoid the protein, they end up cutting out desserts and junk foods, thus losing weight. "They mistakenly attribute that to their gluten-free decision," Tallmadge said.

The Dangers of Going Gluten-Free (https://www.livescience.com/51826-gluten-free-diets-can-be-unhealthy.html)

The good in grains

According to a 2010 comprehensive review in Nutrition Research Reviews, whole grain cereals can protect the body against the disease and aging process caused by oxidation. Oxidation is involved in all the major chronic diseases: metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, cancers and cardiovascular disease.

A whopping 21 percent of Americans are currently making an active attempt to eat gluten-free, according to a Gallup poll published July 23. That percentage dwarfs the 1 percent of the U.S. population diagnosed with celiac disease — the only medical condition that requires gluten-free products for someone with the disease to live a healthy life.

Everything in moderation.
Gluten-free occasionally shouldn't be a problem, should it? :icon_hungry:

You are absolutely correct...moderation IS the key.

Besides, I understand that there is a lot of high quality chocolate...that's gluten free. :D

According to the link in post #1, it will be in Buffalo Ridge. I don't know if the former Crisper's location would be considered Buffalo Ridge.

Buffalo Ridge is the building in front of Walmart where NYPD Pizza is located. It's probably replacing the Peach Wave that is on the other end. I never hear of anyone going there. My impression of Bowlbar would be something similar to Sweet Tomatoes, which is good.

I bet you're right.
I went to Peachwave the other day for a frozen yoghurt and it was closed up tighter than a drum.
Still, the space doesn't seem large enough for a restaurant with a kitchen.

According to the link Rapscallion gave in post #1, there is a Mexican Restaurant, Habanero's, coming to Southern Trace Plaza. That may be what's going in where Crisper's was.

Ooops, Mexican Restaurant will be open at the end of this month - that according to the paper today!

The Bowlbar is in the same building as NYPD pizza - but at the other end. They serve everything in bowls - salad bowls, rice bowls, noodle bowls and soup bowls. They also have gluten free cookies and drinks (no alcohol). Their website is Bowlbar - Restaurant, Healthy, Gluten Free (http://www.bowlbar.com). They have been open about 3 weeks - I assume a 'soft' opening.

Ate at Bowlbar last night and enjoyed the heathy food. Hubby had beef Korean dish and I had veggie bean burger on top of greens.

You order food at counter then they call your number. Cost was $20 for both meals and drinks, ice tea and bottled water.

Met the owner Rick (he previously owned Red Sauce) and he wanted to come up with something new and different in TV.

They do have drive thru and you can order and pay online before picking up. Www. Bowlbar . com

Hubby and I both really liked the food. Staff was very nice as well.

You shouldn't mislead people with comments that aren't true. Three posts before yours was posted;

"The Bowlbar is in the same building as NYPD pizza - but at the other end."

It's in front of Walmart in a small strip center. The Mexican restaurant you're referring to has been discussed many times because it is going into the old Crisper's location. Crispers was the meeting place for a once a month get-together by posters on this board. So obviously when Crispers closed that became an item of great discussion on the board, as well as when Habaneros was announced as it's replacement.

Family-owned Habanero’s Mexican Grill anticipates February opening at Southern Trace Plaza from The Villages News

Family-owned Habanero’s Mexican Grill anticipates a February opening at Southern Trace Plaza in The Villages. The restaurant will be moving into the former Crispers location. The location features an outdoor patio.

The first Habanero’s Mexican Grill opened in 1999 at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. The family went on to open restaurants in Leesburg, Winter Park, Longwood, Oviedo, Sanford and North Fort Myers.

Here's the building NYPD Pizza is in, go to the other end where Peach Wave use to be and you'll find Bowlbar.

I ate there 10 days ago. I had the chicken, beet, et.al salad. It was very good( and I am not a big fan of beets). My friend had the chicken rice soup. It was also very good. I will be back.

I liked it, although I should have paid more attention to all the ingredients. I ordered one with shrimp and missed the part about peanuts, to which I am allergic. Luckily my husband was there so I just took his Korean beef bowl with cashews and it was really good.

You are right, Habaneros doesn't look close to opening. They don't seem to be in a hurry at all.
They were originally supposed to be open in November 2017, then January 2018, then February 2018.

Culvers, another Southern Trace restaurant, is going full-steam ahead.
