A previous thread about the new Wawa stations coming to the area elicited several comments questioning why some are so thrilled to see them here. I ran across this and thought it explained that well.

Ditto.

I'm not looking forward to easily getting out of it though.

Then again, just about anyplace is easier to get in and out of...than the Kangaroo on the corner of Rainey Trail and 301.

466 & 301

And soon at 27/441 and 466. And maybe 441 near the Summerfield WalMart, not sure about that one though.

Thank you for your post answering my question about the Wawa mystique. The link wouldn't work for me, but googled it and found this, which might be the same article you referenced. Impressive! Now I will join the cadre of people excited about the new Wawa!

Most people are assuming that WAWA food and service will be exactly what they were used to back home. What it the WAWA company realizes that they don't need to be that good around The Villages?

I miss the Quik Trip's (the Wawa's of the Midwest) up in Missouri. They had began installing deli's in their stores about a year before we left; they offered personalized sandwiches, pizza's and other types of food. I look forward to trying the Wawa's.

None of the WAWAs will be cart accessible. I, who has not experienced WAWA, will probably continue to miss out.

So glad we have a car here, you don’t even need gas to stop at a WaWa’s

We have a car, but it is not worth the drive. Everyone who is excited about WAWA opening, great for you. I hope you enjoy going there. I’ll just continue to miss out. :)

I’ll get excited if they get New York pizza & bagels trucked in. Until then, I’ll stay away.

The one on 441 near Lowes will be GC accessible.
The land has been leveled, construction to begin soon.

That is provided the unauthorized cart path is not closed off. I hope people do not read this and think it will be ok to cross 441 to get to this WAWA, or any other retailer back in this area.

It is not going to be closed off. The owner of the property is actually redoing the cart path and selling parcels as "golf cart accessible".

I think you may be confused.
There is no path needed to get to the future Wawa.
It is being built next to the cell tower in front of Harbor Chase, just go through the Paradise gate.
The path from the new Wawa to Lowes is being paved and developed.
The Aldis/Walmart path is now owned by Marion County parks and recreation.

Wawa sells ethanol free gas. Ethanol destroys the fuel components of old cars so pure lead free is terrific. Thanks, Wawa.

Sad to think there is no pride in food and service but one day a great restaurant very large will open up here, do it right...great food, reasonable prices, efficient friendly staff and put the rest to shame and perhaps inspire others. That is not to say there are absolutely no good eating places apparently Rose Plantation excels at the moment. We are looking for restaurants with good chefs not short-order cooks at the moment. Perhaps there is a list.

I would not be looking for a great restaurant at a Wawa.

U go to Wawa’s For a quick latte or frozen drink, grab a breakfast sandwich for $1.50 or a toasted 6 “ sub for $2.99 that you customize, and eat driving. That’s not a restaurant, it convenient way on the go. Stopped by this morning on way to Ocala in and out in 8 minutes.

You said great food, reasonable price and efficient friendly staff. Pick two out of three.....profitability is key and your three requirements make that difficult, which is why we have what we have. Turners in Leesburg, Marks in Ocala are two that will get you great food and an efficient and friendly staff. Of course you need to define "reasonable price".....everyone has a different view.

I decided to try WaWa yesterday and came away with the opinion that it is an extended 7&11. I ordered their Mac and Cheese and watched them make it and it was like I would get at a drive through. They actually cooked the Bacon in the micro wave, broke it into pieces as you watched and the taste was really flat and bland. The price for 2 orders and 2 pieces of bread was $16.00. Whoa, that is a big price for Mac and Cheese. As I said I think it is a larger 7 & 11 with a nitche. :mmmm:

I lived a couple of blocks from a WaWa in Abingdon, Maryland for ten years and I loved their ready made Italian Subs usually found in the cooler islands on the floor. I went yesterday and all they had prepared was wraps. I asked if they have the subs at lunchtime? They said no, just the wraps, so I ordered a sub, the 6" subs were on sale for $2.99. The bread wasn't as fresh as I remember, I would say it's one step above Subway but Jersey Mikes has nothing to worry about. It seemed everybody was ordering the smoothies and various drinks that the ladies were preparing.

My sister met her (3rd) husband over coffee at a WAWA in NJ so they had their wedding in the store. They closed down the store for 3 hours for her. It was great and even made the local news. As they say "the 3rd time is the trick." They are still together. :D
