Cheapest way to get my TV working.

I'm moving to TV on Tuesday and my head is spinning trying to figure out the best and cheapest way to just get some very basic channels. I don't have internet (only on my phone) so any cord cutting solutions is out.

I see Comcast has a $24.99 starter package but I would need the service for three rooms so do I have to get three boxes or do I just need the one box and split the signal. I never had cable before always had free OTA service.

I'm told by neighbors the antenna on the roof doesn't work to well. So if anybody can steer me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

You still used roof antennas these days, I think not. Splitting is considered a crime. Only my thoughts.

Does Comcast not provide the tiny DTA box for rent? In NJ we have one central box that provides all subscribed channels with the standard offerings and we have the DTAs that provide everything except the special subscribed channels. Is it different in FL?

Since you're leaving Tuesday, you probably don't have enough time. For future reference check out Slingbox.

I have a slingbox and, although it works, it's a PITA to use. You will need to purchase a slingbox (~$75), and you will need fairly good internet ON at both the source and destination address at all times. (i.e., you can't shut down your internet at your north home while down here... and if the box resets and lock up, you're hosed).

When it does work, picture quality is ok, but navigating to change channels is incredibly slow and awkward.

I wouldn't recommend it other than as a last resort.

Unfortunately, there are still no streaming services that will provide you ALL of the local big networks. Each will have one or two of them, but not all. So, you might find CBS and FOX, but then won't have NBC and ABC live.

Your best bet is a low cost basic package from one of the local cable companies, or DirecTV or Dish.

I have ClearStream 4 Antenna (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BRXW74/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) in the attic and Channel Master DVR+ (https://www.channelmaster.com/DVR_Plus_16GB_Bundle_p/cm-7500bdl3.htm). Works well for me. But it depends on your location. I'm high ground with good view to the south. I'm a snowbird and have the same setup up north. I take the USB drive back and forth. When I first came to the Villages I brought an Amplified Terk (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007MXZB2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and it worked surprisingly well out the front window. So I upgraded and been satisfied ever since. No monthly bill.
