They will bash Bush/Cheney/Palin/et al.......they will tell you Obama is their guy...why he is great and good for America/the world(?)......but ask about their opinion in support of ANY issue.....total absence!!!

Out of respect for TOTV's administration I intentionally used the Asterisks rather than name the forum. Don't want to be stripping people away from this forum. To those that do know, is that were everyone went?

It would seem to me that since the left was very active here during the campaign, but mostly discussing Palin's family, McCains wife and flying record.....and have not returned since the election for the most part that,,,

Either, as many said here (and Pelosi said more than once.."we won..you lost") OR they stop watching what is going on after the election since the party is not telling them as much as they were iniitially OR they find nothing to support which may be the case since most of those who post totally and completely ignore the issues and only want to talk in those grandiose terms that we all are getting tired of coming out of the WH !!

Maybe when there will be an honest bi-partisan discussion site started here both sides will have a place to actually have a helpful discussion on all items that concern everyone, and the hateful right wing bashers will start acting like grownups.:girlneener:

I for one will hereby promise to discuss ISSUES...I dont think I have ever posted hate and if you have an issue to discuss, lets have a go.

I will stop at this point and see what happens and promise even to come to your defense if someone gets "hateful"

I never saw hateful posts toward other posters but going to go way out of my way if you will discuss ISSUES...not personalities !

PS: I must add one caveat....I have been called nasty names both here and in PMs for simply criticizing the President. I do not think crticism of policy is hateful ! If you consider any criticism of the administration hateful, well then there is a problem and has been for many many years !

non "right wing bashers" (would that be the left wing bashers?)from the pre election era.
Do I sense a double standard? No, just the Pelosi standard. :ohdear:

I recently heard from a Liberal poster to TOTV and was told that they were opting out of Political because of of the personal tenor of the posts. If we continue to drive away all the Liberals who are we going to debate? Singing to the choir isn't very much of an accomplishment as to an exchange of views.

the homogeniety of their all singing all dancing to the beat of the party drum.
I personally do not believe it has anything to do with personal attacks and has EVERYTHING to do with being embarrassed at not having the ability or the courage to respond to challenging questions on issues their party benevolents espouse.

And as far as the ongoing whining about not supporting their man.....as I said earlier....it is more issue based than the trashing some of them did during the election campaign (and some still do.....regularly).

No struggle no progress.

They will be back in 2010 and they sure as heck will be back for 2012 or sooner if they tired talking to each other.

Well, at the risk of being corrected in some way, I dont see the personal attacks and never did.

I think in responding to someones post there can be sarcasm and biting comments, but are we not all adults ? Nobody, to my knowledge ever accelerated anything beyond what I consider adult, mature behavior.

I post on a few others and if I had an attitude like that, the Iraq situation alone would have done me in :)

I know I mention this a lot but is a huge part of this forum...that is the very very personal attacks on the Palin family...some were just plain vile and had absolutely nothing to do with politics !

"Sara Palin again"....is still the 10th most active thread ever on this forum...and if you read through that thread you will see her motherhood and her daughter taken to task more than her political views !

Not just the far-left pinko liberals, but the far-right conservative wackos too. It really appears that the overall posting in Political has dropped off. The same 6 or 7 members post. Control the topics. Same stuff. Mutual admiration. Shut down any other view point. Going to save the world by posting their same-old, same-old here. Do we see a pattern developing? Just not a good use of time. Not even fun anymore.

WHEN LIBERALS ARE QUIET THEY ARE SO BECAUSE THEY ARE BEGINNING TO AGREE WITH THE CONSERVATIVES.

When Liberals agree with you they cannot speak.

is there an issue you would like to discuss? Some of us find these to be the kryptonite of the opposition.....they will NOT even express their position on issues of the administration they support.

Two more: Any of the current participants in this forum are doing no more and far less abusive verbiage than that used by the opposition during the pre election 2008 time period.

Lastly repeating what I posted earlier, it is easier to stand quiet or go away or make noises like boring and casting accusations.....anything except the real issue.

Many have taken Truman's invite to heart and gotten outta da kitchen!!!!!

btk

PS and where ever they go to do they not listen to just what they want to hear from each other......how school yard-ish!!

The Liberal polls show that Obama is gaining in favorability.

The independent polls show that he is losing in favorability.

The Fox polls are very close to the independent ones.

If you average all the polls Obama comes out as the worst President In 50 years and getting close to the worst ever.

The only politicians who come out worse than Obama are Reid and Peloci

Liberals are beginning to shy away from admitting to being Liberals because they do not want to be among the group responsible for destroying our great country.

Couldn't quite make out some of your meaning above. There seems to be some words missing or extra words tossed in or maybe I'm just not with it enough to figure it out.

In my original comment today I was just making an observation that it isn't just the Liberals that have gone away. Of course I'm not smart enough to stop there. I had to add what I thought the cause might be. It's not even fun to tease anymore ... just forget I stopped by. I'm just passing through. Bye!

I have always enjoyed discussing politics...for about 50 years, and many other do also.

I am getting quite sick and tired of people talking about those who like to discuss politics as if they had no life or were some kind of sickos.

I enjoy discussing politics....perhaps you like to discuss cars or enjoy visiting the girls forum or whatever but those of you who feel like you are looking down on those who post on this forum are simply kidding yourself. YOU are not better people...not smarter and perhaps a bit smaller.

Your comment..."Same stuff. Mutual admiration. Shut down any other view point. Going to save the world by posting their same-old, same-old here. Do we see a pattern developing? Just not a good use of time." is a bit elitist (I know I use that word a bit, but it fits) and is one thing only...YOUR opinion.

And I will make a decision on how I spend my time...NOT YOU.

As I said I have been discussing politics on forums, in many other places for 50 years and can frankly state with no equivication that those on this board who find this a bit below them are the ones with a problem.

In most cases...no, in all cases...folks are open for discussion and I have had "my candidate" lose, do stupid things, etc etc and I never lost what I believed in....I faced it and kept on discussing in order to learn and broaden my scope a bit.

I will share a bit personal simply because I am angry...I am tired of being called names either openly or with your kind of "cute language".

I was a member of the Democratic party for many years.....and I worked in backrooms of a number of state wide candidates in Pennsylvania. I changed my registration to Republican and have voted for candidates of both parties over and over and over.

I am not a racist....I am not a right wing nut.....I am not IN ANYWAY a party person.....

You who cannot, and I believe that to be the case, those of you who CANNOT discuss issues without showing anger toward the other posters go about your life...enjoy...but do not make fun of those who do enjoy discussing it. You who have one emotion when someone disagrees with you and that is anger...do not look down on folks who CAN discuss issues and not personalities.

There has never been any doubt of how I feel about the current administration. I have never backed down from it. I resent more those who absolutely degraded the man because they supported Sen Clinton and now come off as big time supporters of the President as if they were behind him until the PARTY nominated him.

You who just "pass through" as you said you were doing, make a giggly remark and have NOTHING AT ALL REMOTELY TO OFFER ON WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY should perhaps leave your judgements on those who post here and better direct them to whatever you KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT....whether it be the girls thread or whatever else on here you KNOW something about !

Wow, now are you happy with yourself? I'm glad it wasn't personal! I think the "girls thread" has a really good reason to turn you inside-out. That was a major put-down for them. Gee, don't you see them as being smart enough to post here? Don't you think that they have an interest or the ability for a worthwhile contribution. What century were you brought up in? Check your blood pressure, take two Tylenol and apologize in the morning.

PS: As you may consider the "girl talk" thread a "put down" as you said, I do not. It is simply another interest level for folks as I said and one of many. If you want to put down that thread do not dump it on me, as I could have said any of the threads and I have no idea what sex you are !

Just thought you might like to know that Chels is alive and well and still a liberal! Albeit a relaxed liberal that just returned from a wonderful cruise with a great bunch of friends (from both parties! Wow! Imagine that!) :22yikes:

I don't know what forum you THINK I'm an administrator of or migrated to, but, as usual you're wrong! :ohdear: Or perhaps that was just one of your birthday wishes. Hahaha! Well, if it was, just keep blowin' on those candles. All that hot air should not go to waste!

I think the funniest comment was from Cashman, "WHEN LIBERALS ARE QUIET THEY ARE SO BECAUSE THEY ARE BEGINNING TO AGREE WITH THE CONSERVATIVES." Hahahaha! I laughed out loud at that one! Nothing could be farther from the truth!

So, for the record....
I am a liberal.
I completely back President Obama
I believe the Health Care Bill will pass WITH a Public Option (whether it's called that or not.)
I think we should completely pull out of Afghanistan and Iraq. We're never going to win and/or rebuild an ancient nation.
I support our troops.
I love my country.
I will Bush/Cheney bash until the cows come home because they put us where we are today.
I think the birthers, **********, and all the other right-wing nuts should just shut the bleep up! A waste of media coverage and time.
I know that Sarah Palin will NEVER be President.
I believe Obama will be re-elected.
I also think Pelosi should shut the bleep up.
I think Fox News is filled with commentators that have been fired or can't get a job at more reputable stations.
I think Rush Limbaugh is a bubble-headed baffoon.
I don't think the Republicans have a shining star on their horizon.
I know the "girl talk" thread is actually called the Feminine Forum.

And I think you're all just cute as buttons for missing me!!!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaackkkkk!

Just to set the record straight....I am not a liberal, but I have been away. In fact, when I got back I wondered if the political thread had just disappeared because they weren't any postings for days! As for commenting, I don't usually know enough to comment, but I sometimes do have opinions be they right or wrong. I do more reading than posting because I am trying to learn from others. Until recently (and don't know why it happened that way, but it did), I took zero interest in politics. Maybe it's because my brother and I are eons apart in our views and I love sparring with him. Anyhow, I'm glad this forum is alive and well after all.

What is the latest Liberal position on Global cooling?

When the Earth was warming we were all aware of the Liberal position.

Gore explained global warming as an opportunity to make millions of dollars which he has done.

I guess Liberals are silent on Global cooling because they have not yet figured out how to tax it under an "ICECAP AND TRADE" bill.

I think the question raised here is simple. When we discuss the issues, the libs lose every time. They rely on an unending attack on the character of any conservative. I give you President Bush and Rush as evidence. The effective attacks were of a personal nature. Remember that President Bush was stupid and Rush was a drug abuser. Now President Bush has a Harvard MBA and Rush had a fraction of the substance abuse problem as do many politicians, but don’t bother me with the truth. Because of this, conservatives tend to be more civil.
Libs also rely on a “cult of personality” to achieve and maintain power. The two best examples of this are Presidents Kennedy and Obama. They rely on a cult of personality to lead. The media is a willing accomplice.
That’s what I think, anyway.

cashman - the libs have moved from global cooling and global warming....now they lump everything together and call it climate change....sooo ...they have it covered no matter which way the trend goes.....kinda of like betting on all the horses in the race...and that...they can tax. I predict with certainty and hard evidence the next president will be either a male or female.

who started smear campaigns regarding Obama's citizenship, patriotism, nor started calling him a "Socialist" or a "Communist." Politics is politics, but the right-wing smear machine, fueled by the nomination of Sarah Palin and helped immeasurably by the partisan positions of FOX, once again reached new lows of despicability during the campaign.

cashman - the libs have moved from global cooling and global warming....now they lump everything together and call it climate change....sooo ...they have it covered no matter which way the trend goes.....kinda of like betting on all the horses in the race...and that...they can tax. I predict with certainty and hard evidence the next president will be either a male or female.

There was a systematic study released today that global warming is in act continuing- that the last ten years are still the hottest on record, even if the actual warmest year was 1998, then 2005. Short-sightedness, perhaps caused by squinting eagles or the used dried up tea in the teabags, seems typical of cons. Sort of like the little child who whines, "Gimme mine, NOW!"

I'm not saying global warming is human-made, only that pretending global warming is not a statistical long-term issue, is like a child making a sand castle when the tide is out and not understanding that high tide eventually comes. Children see only what is front of them now: that's the story of Iraq, of health care reform, of the history of Medicare, Social Security, and the story of the financial meltdown that began in the Bush Administration.
Short term "I want it now- I want what I deserve NOW, I don't care about the future" is the screeching call of the cons and the Beckerheads.

It appears to me that those, and I assume you feel this way, who think ALL the problems with smear politics come from the right, and none from the left......AND who also condemn folks on Fox without condemning those on MSNBC (Olberman, Maddow, etc) .....

1. Have very very short memories

2. Are part of the problem with this country and the great divide !

I, personally, would NOT go to Fox News or MSNBC for any real nitty gritty details. BOTH are slanted.

As for Global cooling... don't get out your parkas just yet!

The earth warms. The earth cools. Liberals, Marxists and other political opportunists use this natural phenomenon to create discord between the classes, raise taxes and penalize powerful, industrial nations by divesting them of their natural resources and treasures. Kind of a spread the wealth thing on a global level. It also gives posters an opportunity to strike their name calling, mean spirited colors and attack Conservatives with contrived, bombastic and somewhat pedantic rhetoric.

Rachel Maddow does NOT smear anyone. Her broadcasts are thoroughly researched and investigated. She doesn't scream at her guests, she doesn't get weepy and cry, she doesn't insult, and she doesn't lie.

Dr. Maddow doesn't take things at face value, she investigates - like the fact that most of these stupid "tea parties" are sponsored and financed by insurance companies. Insurance companies who are lying to a naive public in order to save their bottom line while raising the rates of the very people who are out there protesting for them.

* Rachel Maddow earned a degree in public policy from Stanford University.

* Rachel Maddow was awarded the John Gardner Fellowship.

* Rachel Maddow was the recipient of a Rhodes Scholarship did her postgraduate study at Lincoln College, Oxford (1995).

* Rachel Maddow completed her Doctor of Philosophy degree in politics (2001) from the University of Oxford.

Insurance companies have one of the lowest profit margins in the private sector.

Insurance companies cannot compete across State lines. What does she say about that.

Why are you calling Liberals, Independents And Conservatives who attend Tea Parties stupid people? Thats very bad manners.

It's funny that Fox News (Noise) didn't cover the Gay Pride Rally that was almost double the size of any Tea Bag get-together. Well, not funny... just typical. :censored:

I forgot to mention. Did you conservatives notice the very extensive coverage
that Fox the honest News gave to the Gay Exhibitions.

The O'reilly Factor did reports on it twice so far this week.
Of course Libs do not know that because they listen to lies from the fly by networks.

Funny how they pound on Fox for being biased when MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, etc have been liberal slanted for years along with a good bit of the news papers and magazines.

Fox is of course #1 in the ratings along with almost every other conservative show on TV or radio. Apparently though, liberals are the only people on the face of the earth capable of telling the truth. Everyone else who doesn't fall in line with Obama is just a liar. :icon_bored:

See, when you use phrases like “Tea Bag” you are taking a cheap shot at those attending the rallies. It really doesn’t matter who are sponsoring rallies, insurance companies or SEI; Rupert Murdoch or George Soros. Those attending believe in a cause and should be respected for taking a public stand. It is a benefit of living in the US.

I'll quote myself here.

You either fall in line with them or you are deemed a racist, bigot, homophobe, stupid, evil, angry mob or anything else to discredit what we believe.

That's all they have. That's their only playbook.

You ask a simple question like how much of what I earn belongs to you and why? Their only answer is it's Bush's fault. They can never directly answer questions. Why? Because liberalism fails every time it's tried.

Unfortunately, there's a lot of truth in what you say.

I long wanted to ask your Ted Kennedys, your Bill Clintons or your Jimmy Carters ONE question...

"How much is enough?"

At what point in the progressive tax scale would you be willing to say "stick a fork in it - it's done"?

Regrettably, the answer is always "more". Never a number - never a final carved-in-stone percentage.

Politics is the same as my industry - software. In my industry, we call it "feature creep".

There you go again!

Have you ever tried to post using one syllable words? Did you know that the longest one syllable word in the English language is schtroumpfed? Technically its in the language of Schtroumpf (Smurf) not English. It's used by Smurfs as both a noun and a verb.

The two runner ups with 11 letters each are:

squirrelled

broughammed

I have been trying to figure out how to use them in a political forum.

How about....Obama, while being broughammed in his limo to a liberal charity fundraiser for the poor, took advantage of the blacked out windows to reach for a cigarette he had squirrelled away in his sock. If I can only work that whole "Smurf" thing into the limo I would hit the Trifecta with schtroumpfed. Wait....I think I just did.

Tony...is this too much of a stretch for the topic police?

Postscript: anyexit......"There you go again!", sounds like a Ronald Reagan line...you should really give attribution.

Admit it....you learned something about one syllable words today. Thanks for the cerebral exercise.

Interesting, but ... nah, I just can't bring myself to admit it. I could have gotten the same information from Wikipedia - as you did.

Your resources keep expanding. Good for you.
