Has anyone had experience in painting their kitchen cabinets?

Is this a DIY project or do you have to be an expert painter?

Or any recommendations on a contractor and approximate costs for a designer home?

Not hard at all but definitely time consuming. I did mine a few years ago in another home and I was thrilled with the outcome. If you're going darker then I can tell you the best stuff to get but if you're going white I can't help.

We live in Bridgeport and had ours painted by one of Oscar's painters (Jose) who does this work as a side on the weekend. Oscar gave us permission to contract directly with Jose. Cost $1700 for a large kitchen. They were painted a cream color with dark brown highlights. Took two days for prep and paint with tow guys. We were very please with the price and the results.

We are new to The Villages, but used Precision Painting, Adam Croft for painting the entire interior of our house as well as the kitchen cabinets. He did a superb job. Very reasonable too. We had painted our cabinets in our prior house on our own. Very tedious work, removing hardware, sanding, priming and finish coats with acrylic finish. Would never want to do it again, after using the professional.
