Went to a WaWa for the first time in my life
Gas prices are significantly cheaper that the other stations on 466 and they have ethanol free gas 89 octane

Also a major plus--order a western breakfast Panini $4.17
Had 4 times the meat and triple the egg of a breakfast power sandwich @ Panera--probably has more meat than the Panini @ Havana-- or the Cuban--based upon other posters comments

Also--great selection of coffee--had the Columbian--good coffee-

Great bang for the buck for anyone in the neighborhood

Looks like they have 10 people working there-not your typical Circle -K

WaWA will put a major hurt on Dunkin Donuts, Mc Donalds and the other fast food small portion places on 466

Don't worry - If you all keep the current one busy, and they can find the space, they'll be there eventually. :D

All I have to do is go out of my neighborhood up north and turn left or turn right - either way takes me to a Wawa within 3 miles.

As long as they don't have to pay rent to TV, they'll build another one--it looks like a winning formula

Supposedly one is going in at intersection of 466 and 441/27. Just a little north of 466A.

Just curious as to how long ago that was. The reason I ask is because if it was many years ago for example, I would agree with you. For a long time they were just another quick stop shop like most 7-11's and the like - no gas, just snacks, limited groceries, milk, etc. But in more recent years when they added gas pumps, the stores also became much larger and now they sell a lot more products.

Wawa does have it's own dairy farm. In fact, it was WaWa milk that got me to finally drink non-fat milk. It is so much better than most non-fat brands. You also might want to try their lemonade - delicious, just the right amount of sweet and tart.

Oh, and watch for free coffee day! I think it's only once (or maybe twice) a year. Also, if you get an app on your phone, they offer additional freebies and discounts which I believe change from month to month.

Can't do with computer controlling everything and 10.5:1 compression. Can use octane boost with the 89 however. Better than ethanol.

Gasoline without ethanol gets 10% better gas mileage and the biggest thing without ethanol is it does not corrode aluminum.

Chatbrat
11-19-2017, 02:45 PM
our cars have 10.5 compression, aluminum blocks and heads, both engines require minimum 91 octane but 93 is recommended-got 141k on the engine no problems so far

tuccillo
11-19-2017, 03:18 PM
Actually it is about 3% better gas mileage but the cost is more than 3% higher. I have had several cars with aluminum blocks and heads and no issues with 10% ethanol. Whatever floats your boat ...

I have been there 3 times. I was driving past, had to stop. Breakfast sandwich better than MickeyDs, or metro for that matter. Order sandwich how you want it and about 15 choices of what to put on it. Their strawberry lemonade is my favorite, but does have a short expiration date. Yep I need to go home before this becomes a weekly stop.

We three went to WaWa tonight on Mike O'D's recommendation.

Mike was very right. We each had different things and all had a chocolate shake. The shake was the best one I have had in The Villages. Creamy but not cloyingly sweet. Yum.

Helene had chicken strips, I had the chicken burrito and Hank had the Chicken Parm. All very good and well prepared. The interior of the store was NOT what I had expected, very nice, and not a gas station like candy filled place. We enjoyed the experience VERY much.

We will be back.

Glad to hear they are continuing their trend of quality food. Their hoagies (or subs in some areas of the country ) are really fresh and not skimpy at all.

In another thread about this a while back, I had mentioned how clean the bathrooms are usually kept as well. It has always been a go to place for me when traveling for that reason.

Probably not as good as the REAL one, but give the place a try. I am so glad that people talked about it on this Forum or I would never have gone there for a sandwich.

I think it will be on our list for the times we just want a sandwich. Looking forward to trying their soups.

All the Wawa love on this thread makes me very happy. I’ve been waiting for it to happen. 😉 Anyone who grew up on Wawa knows how delicious their hoagies, soups, shakes, iced coffees etc. are!

Now impatiently waiting for the additional Wawas to be built.

Do they pump your gas, wash your windshield, check your oil, put air in your tires, give out free drink glasses, give out S&H Green Stamps?

Sell the gas for 25 cents a gallon?

That's when a service station had service.

And in the old days sabotage a hose or drop a penny in your battery, over fill your oil, cut a fan belt--used to happen alot before the interstates were nationwide

had to keep those crooks from getting close to your car-didn't happen at local gas stations

Went there at 11 this morning to see what all the hype was about. Tried Wawa in Philly and Branden and was never too impressed. That said, I tried the new one at 466/301 and to my amazement they were lined up to buy gas (same price as Shell down the road) and there was not a single space to park the car to go inside. Quite the mystery. I must be missing something. Oh, did end up buying gas so I can check off that box.

I've experienced both since my birth family is from "Sheetz country", but I moved to "WaWa country" 30+ years ago. Apparently by mutual agreement, they definitely have set boundaries whereby they don't overlap. I was told that by a store manager several years ago. Maybe that has changed however, since they have expanded so much in recent years.

What do you like about Sheetz? When I go back home, I miss WaWa because I like most of what they make better, but maybe I'm missing something, so please, do tell.

In Texas, they're pretty proud of their Buc-ee's chain of service stations/convenience stores.

Buc-ee's - Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buc-ee%27s)

Buc-ee's offers private labeled beef jerky, novelty candy, trail mixes, granola, pralines, jarred vegetables, preserves, and salsa. Their #1 branded product is caramel and butter-glazed corn puffs known as 'Beaver Nuggets.'

I can see why. Have never been to one but have seen pictures of one of these places - one like yours and also an inside shot. They look pretty impressive.

Just had to add - love that red truck in the pic. Darn, they do everything extra large down there, don't they?

Buc-ee's is expanding into Florida. Their plans call for initial locations in Daytona Beach, St. Augustine, and Fort Myers. Since the article mentioned below was written, I found out that the St. Augustine location will be their first because of some environmental concerns that have to be addressed with the Daytona Beach location: Texas-sized Buc-ee's to put 1st Florida gas station in Daytona - News - Daytona Beach News-Journal Online - Daytona Beach, FL (http://www.news-journalonline.com/news/20170412/texas-sized-buc-ees-to-put-1st-florida-gas-station-in-daytona)
