Can anyone tell me how to get alerts for the cancellation of town square entertainment due to weather? We are never sure if things are cancelled short of driving up to find out.

If you have a smartphone you can download The Villages Daily Sun app. It will send push messages regarding square cancellations as well as traffic tie ups due to accidents. It also had a business directory for the squares and movie times.

But the app is quite useful generally.

Someone posted on facebook people dancing at the Square last night. Myself, I was warm and cozy at home

Me to Him. It's raining. I bet they've cancelled entertainment on the squares.
Him to Me. Well, we are retired. We can wait and go anytime.

You can always look at the webcams and see firsthand. Last evening I saw Uncle Bob was all set up and ready to go at 4pm at Brownwood even though it was raining at the time.

The web cams are your best bet. All three squares had entertainment, saw a few people dancing in each square.
Scooter will only stop if they make him he was performing in the square yesterday.

I have the app, no notice about entertainment being cancelled.

A lot of times, the entertainment isn't cancelled until the last minute so there is no time to put out a notice. Often, it is just delayed an hour or so until the weather passes, depends on the conditions. Many times, the vendors don't even know and they have to go to the square and wait. To be sure, just call the entertainment department. Typically, rain is not enough to cancel. Lightning and low temps below 48 degrees would do the trick, however.

Scooter started playing at 5. He was cancelled at 6:05 due to thunder and lightening in the area.
