For all of Donald Trump's presidency and most of his 2016 campaign, his critics have implored the media with a simple message: Call a lie a lie.
Trump has stated literally thousands of falsehoods by now, and his critics argue that to keep suggesting Trump might simply be getting his facts wrong gives him a pass. Journalists often resist the L-word because it implies intent.
His conspiracy theories about President Obama's birth certificate, polls and his loss of the popular vote persist. But these stories and plenty more before them reinforce the alternative: Trump does not grasp basic facts.
Either Trump is lying or he truly doesn't grasp basic facts and the implausibility of his own conspiracy theories. Whatever you think about Trump, neither is a quality you want in the leader of the free world.

President Trump does not seem to have much of a grasp of reality.

Tony Schwartz, the co-author of President Trump's book "The Art of the Deal" claimed Wednesday that some people who work in the White House are concerned about Trump's mental health.
During an interview on MSNBC, Schwartz — a frequent Trump critic — said Trump is a "man who is deeply mentally ill."
"I know that two different people from the White House, or at least saying they were from the White House and that turned out to be a White House number, have called somebody I know in the last several weeks to say, we are deeply concerned about his mental health," he said during the interview.
There are some people who recognize what's going on in the White House, he said, adding that America needs to understand that Trump is "exceptionally dangerous" because he is "losing his grip."
He was pressed on what he thinks the objective was of people allegedly making those calls about Trump's mental health.
"I think to get help and advice in how to deal with someone who no longer seemed to be connected to reality," Schwartz said.
"They're afraid?" he was asked during the interview.
"Oh absolutely, terrified," Schwartz responded.

"After his latest spasm of deranged tweets, only those completely under his spell can deny what growing numbers of Americans have long suspected: The President of the United States is profoundly unstable. He is mad. He is, by any honest layman’s definition, mentally unwell and viciously lashing out.
Some might say we are just suffering through the umpteenth canny, calculated presidential eruption designed to distract the nation from special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, or perhaps from unpopular legislation working its way through Congress.
Quite possible. But Occam’s razor, and the sheer strangeness of Trump’s behavior, leads us to conclude that we are witnessing signs of mania."

As long as millions of Americans watch Hannity, we are doomed.

More like Trump does not have an army of analysts that study, digest, edit, re-digest everything that is said like the establishment before him and the establishment residents of the swamp.
He talks like most average folks do.....off the top of his head....right or wrong.
The other aspect none of his predecessors had was the intense magnifying glass that is applied to every word and deed by or from Trump....whether meaningful or not.
Whereas, Obama for example, would be given a pass for the same deeds and statements.
Please don't twist the above to sound like a defense or promotion of Trump.
It is nothing more than an opinion, an observation.....which prior to the era of identity and partisan politics.....was everyone's right to have and offer!

IMHO Obama was not perfect BUT he was a President that didn't embarrass us on the world stage, something I can't say about this one!!!!! Why does Trump get a pass with the GOP with ALL of his lies.?

"That wasn't me in the Acess Hollywood tape"
"The terrorist came in the country through the Diversity Lotto Visa program" (program was done away with before)
"These films show immigrants committing crimes in England"

Always remember his making a big deal about Comey "leaking" conversation with president, when in fact it came directly and verified from the White House.

Rubicon...you asked for examples.....what will you do with them, as I have many more....like saying the media "made up" the multitude of sexual predator activities, including at least one of rape, which is all public record and validate...made, by the way BEFORE he even ran for President.
So, what's your plan. You usually ignore things like this, as you do when YOU are asked for examples.

"The senate tax bill will pay for itself"
The JCT report (Joint committee on Taxation), a group by the way that the GOP has been yelling for 40 years to do analysis, came out and said even with growth predicted, it will increase our deficit by ONE TRILLION DOLLARS.
