Hey fellow golfers, whats up with all of the empty whiskey bottles thrown around Heron Executive Golf Course. I golfed there today and picked up and disposed of four empty bottles of Fire Ball Whiskey. I saw at least a dozen more that I could not get to. I cannot believe golfers are this inconsiderate even with disposal baskets on every other hole. What gives? And don't blame the Ambassadors, as they do a very commendable job at keeping the courses tidy.

Maybe they don't want someone at home to see the empties in the recycling bin. Sounds like an expensive brand. Sad either way. Good job picking them up.

I spoke to an ambassador about a month ago, and this has been going on for a while now. It's in the water next to the bridge, if I remember correctly, around the 6th or 7th hole. He usually finds them in the early when making morning rounds, and thinks it is happening after hours.

Interesting...if you go to google maps, you can see a cart path with no apparent reason, use that exists from a Cane Garden GC to the Heron GC. It runs directly behind some TV homes with no barrier, I.e., wall, fence. They would have access to the path from their back yard. Anyone have any idea what the original purpose of that path is/was? Perhaps now used for after hours activities???

Sorry to say it out loud but do not like some of the types being drawn to TV these last few years. This one incident isn't earth shaking but ignoring this type of behavior will mushroom.

I believe this path is used by the golf work crews.

It's the new thing when someone in the group gets a birdie. Everyone takes a gulp from a small bottle.

says they're sorry to say something....they aren't. As for the "being drawn to TV" that too isn't true. It has to do with population density and that while the population increases so do the number of undesirables...in usually equal proportions. So now that there are more people, there are more inconsiderate folk too.

So they aren't "drawn" here.

Not our group. We are civilized. We carry our own shot glasses. And those were not our bottles. Celebrating birdies in our group ensures a bottle will last a lot of rounds.

I hope the bottles were nips and not full size bottles or there would have been some very drunk golfers out there? I can see needing a couple of drinks on the sister course, Pelican, where just about shot is a forced carry over a hazard, but at Heron?

Fireball is a very popular drink with the younger crowd. Perhaps some trespassing going on?

My thought, too! Have seen non-resident young folks hop the fence @ the Southside pool in late nite and take advantage of pool and hot tub when no residents are inside. Always fun when they get 'caught' by cleaning crew!

Same with our group and never more than a half shot.

I've seen the golf course maintenance crews use that path on the few times I've played Her on. I believe seeing one over on Pelican that cuts between the green and gold tee markers on the 5th hole. Heavy bush area.

Some of these responses seem to condone the drinking as a celebration of a golfing event. That's OK by me. Just dispose of the empty bottles properly. There are trash containers everywhere on the course.

so they aren't drawn here. Perhaps then they just happen to stumble in here drunk on Fireball:D

as to my state of mind you seem to be a mind reader. I am indeed sadden for anything of this nature because of the affect it has on the community

and as to population the range from the first baby boomers to the end of that age group there is a demonstrable difference in lifestyle. Add to that those in the community born before or during WWII and those who live here that are Gen X and you have a broad range of lifestyles relative to age and we haven't even included regional differences

I was not slamming anyone. Mine was simply an observation that we have generational differences.

for good or bad, the 55+ rule went out the door long ago

I bear no malice here. I just like things in between :)

Out of all of the groups I play with we only celebrate hole-in-one and that’s in the bar with choice of drink by the lucky person. My thought is those taking shots on the golf course have a disadvantage to the person they are playing with that’s not taking a shot. Maybe a good golf strategy.

I can't believe that there are this many people out there drinking fireball whisky all in the same spot. Maybe there is one guy that polishes off several a day and dumps the empties there to hide from his wife.

GG: disorder and disorganization can be found even in girl scouts and ex girl scouts. Every generation gets it share of............................

when we first moved here, there was clear communication from The Villages that drinking on the courses was not permitted.

Naturally rules were made to be broken. coffee royal taste good in the morning.

About seven years back, I played with a gent that consumed two six packs during a round early morning at Glenview.

I am not a drinker wine with a meal and never a full glass. and I do not condemn those that do

My only point here was that we don't know who threw those bottles ;albeit the brand name and manner in which the bottles were tossed does narrow the possibilities?
