Hello down there in beautiful Florida. My husband and I are doing a preview of The Villages the first week of Dec. We are trying to educate ourselves about mortgages and would like to get prequalified for a mortgage before we look at preowned homes there. Can anyone help me in my quest for information? Should we find a broker or a bank in Florida or does it matter where the lender is located? Any other info will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any advice. BK

if either you or your husband is a veteran, check with the Veterans Administration for a home loan. Right now their interest rates are low. Good Luck.

Citizen's First Bank let's you pre-qualify on line. They can do both new and resale home mortgages very quickly and are located throughout The Villages.

You can also call other local banks for their rates.

Another good source would be to call a multilist realtor like Lyle Gant. He should be able to direct you to several mortgage sources.

Good luck.
