3. The special counsel is looking into the president himself, specifically whether Trump obstructed justice by abruptly firing former FBI director James B. Comey.

4. Trump’s lawyer said the president knew Flynn had probably lied to the FBI...and still Trump covered for him.

5. Comey all but accused the president of obstructing justice.He testified under oath to Congress that he believes Trump fired him because of the Russia investigation.

6. Emails revealed Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Manafort met with a Kremlin-connected lawyer in Trump Tower. Legal experts say that this likely crossed the legal line on collusion.

7. When that meeting became public knowledge in 2017, Trump dictated his son’s misleading statement on what it was about, making this the second example of a coverup.

8. Various members of the Trump campaign and administration have repeatedly not been forthcoming about their Russia connections. Two high-profile examples: Kushner didn’t include his meetings with Russians on his security clearance, and Attorney General Jeff Sessions had to retestify to Congress that he did have conversations with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the campaign despite indicating under oath he hadn’t.

9. During the transition, Kushner suggested establishing secret communication lines between Trump officials and the Kremlin via Russian diplomatic facilities.

10. Mueller has interviewed two dozen current and former Trump aides.

11. Trump Jr. exchanged private messages with WikiLeaksduring the campaign. Wikileaks is Kremlin controlled.

12. The Russians extensively used Facebook and Twitter to interfere with the election.

The President, along with his pundit and Congressional loyalists, is trying to politicize the FBI in order to diminish its ability to hold him, his family, and his team accountable for potential criminal activities.

Most Americans have never witnessed such a tactic because most of our presidents have acted in good faith in this regard, allowing the Department of Justice and the FBI relative independence to uphold the law

However, authoritarian leaders all over the world always try to bring national security services under their complete control because they know that organizations like the FBI are most likely to threaten their power by exposing their corruption and treachery

In many cases, this is accomplished by firing senior law enforcement officials en masse. Our norms make that difficult. So instead, Trump and his allies are working overtime to set the pretext for targeted firings, demotions, and forced retirements to accomplish the same thing.
