Guy Fieri's flagship restaurant in NYC is closing
just went to the one here last week.... and that should close also.. sub par menu, just another glorified over priced burger and sandwich joint... 3/4 of tables were full and still waited about 40 minutes for our food once the order was taken ... food was good but not worth the wait...

To each their own. The wife and I enjoy the food and atmosphere. The wings, deviled eggs and burgers are delicious.

Food is decent, not great but not bad either. However the service is terrible. Last time I was there, 45 minutes for food and 1/2 hour to get the check after we were done. And that included asking for it twice. So that was last time I was there and will also be the last time I go there.

While this is one of those aggravating 'click bait' articles...you only need to see 3 or 4 pages to get the idea.
Here's Why Guy Fieri Is 1 of the Most Hated Celebrity Chefs of All Time (https://www.cheatsheet.com/culture/guy-fieri-is-one-of-the-most-hated-celebrity-chefs-in-america-heres-why.html/?ref=YF&yptr=yahoo)
From bleached hair to bowling shirts, Guy Fieri is, without a doubt, one of the most hated celebrity chefs of all time. But what exactly is it that causes droves of people to disdain the seemingly happy-go-lucky guy in the first place? From his brash personality to his lackluster restaurant in NYC, reviews of Fieri fall flat. Here are 14 reasons why this chef is nothing but a culinary catastrophe.

Guy Fieri's flagship restaurant in NYC is closing
It sounds like it lasted a lot longer than this food critic's 2012 scathing (Zero Star Rating) review...thought it would. :D
Restaurant Review: Guy’s American Kitchen & Bar in Times Square - The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/14/dining/reviews/restaurant-review-guys-american-kitchen-bar-in-times-square.html?ref=dining)
Why is one of the few things on your menu that can be eaten without fear or regret — a lunch-only sandwich of chopped soy-glazed pork with coleslaw and cucumbers — called a Roasted Pork Bahn Mi, when it resembles that item about as much as you resemble Emily Dickinson?
How, for example, did Rhode Island’s supremely unhealthy and awesomely good fried calamari — dressed with garlic butter and pickled hot peppers — end up in your restaurant as a plate of pale, unsalted squid rings next to a dish of sweet mayonnaise with a distant rumor of spice?
How did Louisiana’s blackened, Cajun-spiced treatment turn into the ghostly nubs of unblackened, unspiced white meat in your Cajun Chicken Alfredo?
How did nachos, one of the hardest dishes in the American canon to mess up, turn out so deeply unlovable? Why augment tortilla chips with fried lasagna noodles that taste like nothing except oil? Why not bury those chips under a properly hot and filling layer of melted cheese and jalapeños instead of dribbling them with thin needles of pepperoni and cold gray clots of ground turkey?
By the way, would you let our server know that when we asked for chai, he brought us a cup of hot water?
When you hung that sign by the entrance that says, WELCOME TO FLAVOR TOWN!, were you just messing with our heads?

Guy Fieri said he was very disappointed by the closing but offered no reason. As far as the one here goes I am happy it's open and doing well. But truthfully, I still miss Friday's.

Just curious (I really haven't been paying attention), but has Guy Fieri ever visited his (in name anyway) restaurant in The Villages? I kind of like the guy, but if he hasn't shown up to promote a restaurant named for him, what's up with that?

He sells his name. He has nothing to do with the restaurant.

Take a guess on what the monthly lease payment is for a 500 seat restaurant on Times Square is.

Would like to see more "mom and pop" restaurants around TV. Rather not pay for someone's name or to a franchisor. Just good food at good prices with adequate service. I know I am dreaming.

People love Fridays????? That's the place 20 years ago you brought your internet date because u could excuse yourself and beat feet out the back door.
Friday's is fine for a drink...why anyone would want to eat there is beyond belief.

Right. That's why they are all going out of business. Not.

To each his own they say and to me I am done with Guys. Sat at the bar a few nights ago and ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. 55 minutes later it arrived. It was so bad that the bartender comped the sandwich. There is something bad going on in the kitchen and that is going to kill the Restaurant, just as it did Whiskey Creek and several others. The servers were friendly but if the food isn't coming out of the kitchen, it's basically over. Friendly atmosphere will go just so far. :beer3:
