Mineral Buildup in Pipes?

Having just recently moved here, we've gotten the load of phone calls trying to sell us the varous "water systems." We didn't bite.

Our new neighbor has now gotten the calls and is kind of concerned about minerals building up in the pipes and slowing down the water flow etc. I figure that even if such a thing did happen it would take enough years that it wouldn't matter.

So... any thoughts?

A house I owned in Indiana had to have the pipes changed because of the pipes getting restricted from deposits.
Of coures it took over 68 years for that buildup to happen!:1rotfl::1rotfl:

For probably much less than $100. (and usually free by Culligan) you can have your water analyzed for minerals that either line copper pipes such as calcium or magnesium (hard water) or a low pH which acts the opposite way causing corrosion. If the hardness is below 200mg/L and the pH is above 6.5there's not too much to worry about. Google water analysis, FL and you'll get all the answers you need. Good Luck!

Did anyone ever have a water treatment salesmen say, "Your water is fine...there's no justifiable reason for you to purchase any of my (overpriced) treatment systems."

WE took their bait once. They came to our home to "test the water". They are snake oil salesmen. They add a substance to the water that turns it into slime. Thank goodness we didn't bite. That was in 2000 and our water is still great. Save your time and money!!!!!!!:rant-rave:
