On this rather cold day, I am sitting here wondering what my fellow Villagers think is the best thing and the worst thing about living in TV. I am going to avoid giving my opinion, as to not sway others before this thread even gets started.

Best thing is population from all different backgrounds and quarters of the country, including some international neighbors, makes for very interesting conversations. Worst thing is not enough restaurants yet in southern parts of The Villages, but I’m confident that will imrove as permanent population increases in these areas to support more restaurants.

Best is the people and their generosity of spirit and friendliness. I can’t imagine too many places where someone would let a stranger live in their home while their home was rebuilt after after a fire, but I know that has happened here. We give to each other, to charities, to strangers. We volunteer and donate. We don’t say no when someone needs a helping hand.
Worst is the people and their pettiness and small-mindedness, especially when it comes to politics. I’ve heard people say incredibly rude and unkind things to those who don’t agree with them. NIMBY is, sadly, a way of life here. Many are too quick to condemn and belittle those that are different.
TOTV is a prime example of both. You can see the best of people on main threads, especially Helping Hands. You can see the worst on comments about snowbirds and bad drivers. You can see the absolute worst in the Political Threads.

The best thing about TV is never having to see 4 ft of snow again. The worst thing is missing my grandson.

The best thing is being here with this wonderful weather and not in KC where it's 8* right now.
The worst thing is the people who complain incessantly about the developer and The Villages but still won't make that decision to move back to the Podunk place they moved from.

Best thing is most of the people in the Villages; worst is a few of them.
I have found that to be true everywhere though.

I'm surprised no one here so far has said the worst thing is the heat and humidity.

Best: The weather, the beauty of this entire community, the good people who live here and appreciate it.
Worst: Those once poorly behaved teenagers who are now poorly behaved retirees living among us.

It’s does not have a windchill of -29 like it is here right now and dropping. I told my dogs it is ok to poop inside today. Just please try to hit the newspaper.

BEST: People, going everywhere in your golf cart, friends, golf, clubs, squares, activities, everything inside and outside the bubble, weather, kindness and generosity of most people and knowing I will never shovel snow again.
WORST: Lack of decent restaurants, a few of the people, drivers, health care, scam artists thinking they have easy marks, drunks, however most of these things can be resolved by good planning.

Best thing - so many things to do almost every day.
Worst thing - traffic problems. This is an obvious result of population growth, so there likely are no easy solutions. The best things heavily outweigh the worst things.

Best thing - Security seems great (at least in courtyard villas with those 7 foot stone walls.
Worst things - The Lightning from early spring to the end of the hurricane season. (I may become a snow-bird because of this).
- The VA clinic need something done, needs urgent care, needs to stop thinking they are not there to help veterans
2nd Best - Low traffic south of Colony Publix
2nd Worst - only one REC Center serving food. Dangerous Drivers.
Also, we need our own airport.

The best-great neighbors, wonderful facilities and amenitities.
The worst-the 25 to 30 % of TV that feels they are entitled and have no concern for others. They don't rake the traps, they don't fix their ball marks, they are rude, drive slowly in the passing lane (illegal to do even if you are doing the speed limit) they stiff servers in restaurants and they want to say how wonderful things were back home and if florida was only more like home. Why the hell did you leave if it was so perfect. No Floridian cares how they did it back home.

In general...I agree.
The best things are the winter weather, kindness of so many and the easy/convenient availability of golf...in a plethora of forms.
The worst things are those who harbor extreme misogyny/hatred/anger/bigotry/racism/xenophobia...and their reactions & personal attacks when you don't share those traits. :ohdear:
And while I have been careful to be very generic and avoid even the appearance of attacking anyone by name, I'm betting that there will be a number of members...who will immediately complain to the mods.
I'm also betting though, that the mods will realize that this post completely conforms with the rules & guidelines...and will treat it as such. :ho:

Best thing - just being there
Worst thing - not being there
I find when I go there for a visit, no matter how long I stay, I don't want to leave. And whether I do nothing or many things while there, I just love being there either way. I had a cousin who did a lot of traveling throughout her life and enjoyed it. Once she moved to TV, she found she really didn't enjoy traveling as much. Every time she did, she couldn't wait to get "home". She was so happy just being there.

Best thing: It is everything and more than advertised.
Worst thing: Medical "care".

Best thing: Sports and activities.
Worst: Navigating roads, cart paths, grocery aisles and checkout lines amongst a lot of people who clog these up by acting like self-centered children with no concept of inconveniencing anyone around them. I guess these are the same people who whine "what's your hurry!" because someone who likes to drive the speed limit dares to pass them. I'm NOT in a hurry, I just don't care to waste hours of my life that I'll never get back because of the inconsideration and downright rudeness of others.

Don't worry about the food or shopping here, worry about the Health Care:
There is lot of hype about the Villages. One of the most disappointing lies i fell for is the slogan ""The Villages America’s Healthiest Hometown"",
I went to the ER at that beautiful hospital on Rte 441, called ""The Villages Regional Hospital"". It was not a good experience. Slow, inept, and unmotivated is the best way to describe my experience. I was finally diagnosed with a Kidney Stone, I was in a lot of pain, and got no pain meds for 3 hours. It did not appear to be very busy, so i don't know what the delay was. Just read the attached post to see other opinions of the Health Care System here in the Villages..........it is NOT a "SYSTEM".

There was a review on here about 3 months ago, a Villager also had some stone problems, but he went to the new free standing ER on 441 just south of Market of Marion, near the entrance to Del Webb Spruce Creek. It has an operating room and fully staffed and this fellow said he was getting help within 30 minutes. On the front page of their website, it has posted wait time at this moment: 3 minutes.

Worst > having so much to do here and it being so beautiful you are hesitant to leave to go on vacation someplace else because its just plain better here.
Best > all the things you can easily do everyday without breaking the bank

Worst thing is 95% of ALL Villagers go home at 8:45 PM
I mean even at Social Club Events with entertainment that they paid money to see, they go home early.
Home parties with great food, etc. everyone leaves at 8:30 PM.
Music at Squares ends at 9:00 PM.
Where I come from, the party starts at 9:00 PM
Are we that old.
Oh well..........
