Maybe it's just us but we were disappointed in this year's Oktoberfest event at Lake Sumter Landing compared to last year. Seems like the budget must have been cut back a lot. There were some good costumes in the parade and a couple of good marching bands playing German music but not nearly as many decorated carts that anything to do with Germany. No really good bands playing German music afterwards. Even the stiltwalkers seemed to disappear right after the parade.

It was nice to be able to buy snitzel, wurst, and pretzels from the vendors but a wider selection of German specialties would improve the experience.

How do we get the Gemutlikeit back?

We went to Spanish Springs for the parade and dancing.
Then we stopped by Sumter Landing.

Good crowds at both places, but Spanish Springs seemed to have more of the Octoberfest atmosphere.
