I just spent FOUR HOURS dealing with Comcast. We returned from Ohio and found that they didn't have ESPN2 and Fox Sports 1 and other channels on our TV that we had when we left last year. After 4 hours they say it will take 2 to 3 days to solve the problem! And I wanted to watch my alma mater, West Virginia, play Oklahoma in basketball Saturday night on ESPN2. I know I can go to a bar, but I prefer to watch at home. An I'm not getting what I'm paying for. When we return to Ohio, Spectrum hits a couple of buttons and we're back to normal after our winter in The Villages.

Change to Spectrum here in TV. Much better than Comcast, and much nicer & quicker customer service. I dumped Comcast in 2013 after 2 years of constant problems.

Surprised that Comcast might take 3-4 days to effect a change in your channel lineup. After taking our service off of vacation every year, we have to reselect our premium channels. It’s always been immediate or a few minutes. Comcast may not be in the same league as Verizon FIOS but they’ve come a long way. Hopefully they’ll surprise you!

Comcast is the devil! Unfortunately I have no other option for 100 meg internet service. Best Century Link can provide is 25 meg at my location.

Finally, Saturday morning, we got all the channels we paid for on our TV. So I can watch my beloved Montaineers tonight against Oklahoma. All is well again.

Unfortunately, Spectrum is not available in all areas of The Villages yet. Where I live you can only get Comcast or CenturyLink. AT&T buried cable along the back of my house this past summer so maybe they will be coming soon.

I know! I know! Everyone hates Comcast but honestly we have had their service in 3 states over 18 years and rarely have ever had a problem.

Does Spectrum have a DVR remote that you talk to? I love that feature from Comcast.

I must be lucky. I have not had a TV or Internet problem with Comcast/Xfinity (except after Hurricane Katrina) since returning from overseas in 1999.

I had Spectrum triple play installed in my place about six weeks ago. The installer brought brand new equipment. The remote is not the kind that you can talk to. But, something I like is the remote has a built in light making it much easier to see, especially when it's night.

I swear... er, talk to my TV all the time. Mostly during Steelers games.

It never answers, though.

Spectrum now offers 100MB internet.

Not at my location. 25megs max if NO TV, if I get TV (which I am not) 10megs is max.

You probably are in their fiber area, I am in their DSL area. Fiber is mostly south of 466A in the newer areas (my sister has their fiber and she is in Pinellas in a 4yr old home). I am in Amelia in an 8yr old home just 1 mile north of 466A. My only option is ComCrap for faster speed.

Same here, they may not be the best, but between Mass and here, no real problems.

What comcast provides in the way of services is fine, i've had several different companies in the past. Their PROBLEM is with their customer service when you do have a issue. In the past I've threatened to sue them for my doctor bills and blood pressure meds....;)

When we moved from one CenturyLink area to another Century Link area, we were offered a transfer of the same account. It was a bundle with Direct TV. It took us a month to get it all straightened out. The problem was that every time we called, it was a different agent. It was clear they were not good at updating notes at their end.

I've heard that many people frustrated by local Comcast customer service generally have better luck tweeting to @comcastcares. I've never had to use it myself. My service was connected in the Fall of '15 and its been rock solid ever since, so I've not needed to contact them.

If anyone has a Roku device, look up the Xfinity App for Roku. As of right now it is free if you have a Comcast Cable TV account. I use Roku and the Xfinity app on my secondary TV’s. If anyone would like more information, pm me and I can talk more about my setup.

I can understand that. I dislike Comcast intensely.
Every time I call Comcast I get a different price quote for internet plus the two speciality channels I watch.
We were charged $99 when we arrived in October, but I didn't get one of the two channels I was promised.
Then Comcast said we had to pay $196. Last time I called, they offered me Triple Play at $126.

We are very happy with or comcast had it in mi. And now here price might not be the best but like the old saying goes you get what you pay for. Been here for six years they sent us a letter a few months ago saying our equipment was out of date and we were not getting the best hd quality or fastest internet, called them they came out for free and updated all my tv boxes and my computer modem. Now i have the remote that you talk into and lights up and faster internet, even my small standard tv boxes are hd where before only my two ddr boxes were.

How do you actually reach a supervisor at Comcast? I've been charged for boxes I don't have for months. I've called for months. I'm told that research needs to be done and it will take weeks. Then nothing. I call back and am told no research request has been submitted.
Oh, and forget asking for a supervisor. They are never "available" Help!

Do you have the receipt from when you returned the boxes? Why do you not just go to the Comcast store on Hwy 441. There you can talk to a live person and a supervisor if needed.

Comcast.... When they are good they are very very good but when they are bad they are oh so bad.

Comcrap is the devil. They are the evil empire. When you have a problem that requires someone there with half a brain to resolve you learn the full power of their incompetence. When their billing dept can destroy your credit with a push of a key and a "we'll get back to you" you will understand.

If you are lucky enough to only need them to add or remove a channel or send you new equipment you're good but as soon as there is a REAL problem beware......

About two months ago a very nice woman was canvassing our neighborhood from Comcast. If you made the switch they paid all the fees to your existing providers and then send you a $400 or $500 credit card with that value on it for you to go anywhere you want to shop. Three different couples were present for the spiel. We declined, they both accepted and it has been torture on them trying to get what they were promised. Never :boxing2: again not me. I tried to warn them but the credit card offer got them.

I don't understand the need for speed on the internet! I just don't get it, I don't understand. Is the faster speed needed to launch a Space Shuttle at NASA?

You don't understand it because you don't need it. [emoji851] If you needed it you would know and understand. It all depends on what you do on with/on the net. Basically there are things that could take 2 hours to complete that can be done in 10-15 minutes.

Is like taking 441 from here to Miami vs taking the FL Turnpike. Both ways will get you to the same place but one is 10x faster.

We just went through 6 days of hell with Spectrum. We have had Spectrum since coming down here 4 years ago. Last week we upgraded from Brighthouse equipment to Spectrum equipment. Every piece of equipment they sent or brought out was defective. We were told we would get the same channels for $21 a month less than currently paying. Well we had less channels now because some of the channels we had were in a different tier now and would cost us more per month. Told us our router that we own was compatibile-they even checked the model number. However, after the third tech was here they determined it was not compatible. Took a fourth tech out here to get the router working. When I called for some kind of credit for all the inconvenience all they can do is give me a one time $25 credit unless I want to pay $2 a month more for a bunch of channels we didn't want. I think all the cable companies are alike. Looking into "cutting the cord."

I admit I don't get all the technicalities. Upload/Download ah ha now I have a clue about the need for speed. My speed, in that case, is berry berry slow. But so am I so it works out great. Thanks for the splanation. For me cheap, slow, steady works.

Actually hard wired is the only end user available true test to see if you get the speed you pay for. Wifi speeds are affected by many non ISP related variables where hard wired is the true speed provided from your modem or router and is how to verify you are getting what you pay for.
