Trump supporters don't see the damage that Trump is doing to our country internationally. For just one example, China is now trying to make the yuan, instead of the dollar, the international currency. What would your dollar be worth then? China can do this because Trump is not respected, and therefore the USA is not respected, and then the dollar is not respected.

WHY do you women talk about sh!t you know NOTHING about?
The dollar is "losing respect" because the US has borrowed over $20 trillion f@cking dollars. We live high on the hog and throw scraps. We bully others. We FORCE them to accept military bases. We tell them what to do and how to do it. We keep them enslaved through debt. We fix their elections as corruptly as we fix our own. It DOESN'T matter who wins when they're both corrupt.
America is bankrupt...ONLY the military and our threats of world annihilation keep us on top.
ALL for the wealthy who want to dominate the planet.

Barely a day after being tweet-slammed by President Trump, Pakistan announced new measures that will strengthen its trade ties with China.
Pakistan's central bank said it has officially adopted China's yuan as a currency for trade between the two countries, which are neighbors and allies.
That means companies in China and Pakistan can now trade directly in yuan instead of having to use currencies such as the U.S. dollar.
The decision was announced shortly after Trump lashed out at Pakistan. He used his first tweet of 2018 to say the United States had "foolishly given Pakistan more than 33 billion dollars in aid over the last 15 years, and they have given us nothing but lies and deceit."

How about acting like an adult, a leader, and President of the United States and tell them to their face.
I realize he and his followers love when he is not conventional, and I get that, but let's at least act like a world leader.
Embarrassing them on the world stage while everyone is watching, seems to me to be counter productive and sort of beating your chest.
All the countries in the world are not going to roll over every time he tweets

How about we ALL admit that Islam and "The West" will NEVER agree? Will NEVER get along? That would go a LONG way in an actual solution.
But I don't think we WANT a "solution"...there's too much money to be made in conflict.

Monetary markets are not always completely rational. Bitcoin has value, it's a sign of how desperate we are to have a form of currency for trade. I don't think Trump rants have anything to do with the value of the dollar. China buys dollars and Euros to have a currency available and respected around the world in case their is a run on the yuan. China will become the largest economy in the world, that said if you lived in Norway would you care the Norwegian economy is insignificant as long as your standard of living was pretty dam good.

And of course the partisan loyals will parrot what they are directed to say....regardless!

Bitcoin has NO value. It's a string of numbers. As long as "the bitcoin system" is running, THEY give it value. But once that goes away...so does Bitcoin.

Of course...presidents don't RUN anything...they are figure heads...talking heads. The "system" runs things. The whole "government" thing is a charade...The wealthy put the people they want in office by NOT offering ANY choices. You can "pick" one of their pre-selected lackeys. The D or the R...but that's it.

I think you need to look up how GDP is calculated. By definition GDP is additive. If someone works and produces a good or service GDP goes up. Don't feel bad if you don't fully understand this calculation. Donald has shown he doesn't in interviews he has given. Of course this was a fundamental calculation in the economics degree he has from a top school (U of P). We all forget a lot of what we studied in college but I think it's dementia.

Getting back to the actual subject of the thread....
"President Donald Trump seems to favor measuring his economic performance by the way in which the U.S. stock market is doing. However, a more revealing and less rosy measure of his economic performance might be coming from the currency markets.
Following an initial bump up in the dollar's value at the end of last year, on the prospect of a Trump presidency, the dollar has lost as much as 10 percent of its value since January 2017, Trump's inauguration. This sharp dollar decline suggests growing doubts on the part of currency traders as to the direction of U.S. economic policy.
The dollar's recent decline is particularly troubling, as it comes at a time when two historically very dollar-supportive factors are in play."

"The US dollar plunged during the European morning Wednesday, following a Bloomberg report that China is considering to slow or halt its purchases of US Treasuries. The declining appeal of US bonds, relative to other assets, and the trade tensions between the two nations were cited as the main reasons for this consideration, according to the report.

You're missing his point...welfare doesn't count...they call it a "transfer" even though it's not. IF this country DIDN'T borrow over a $ trillion a year...+/- 25% of the budget...you COULD call it a transfer. But there ISN'T anything transferred to pay the poor. It's borrowed.
It's like saying you have a positive household budget...UNTIL you add in your dependent son or daughter who uses and doesn't produce...you MUST take out a loan to support them...but you don't count him/her as a loss to the family budget.
The numbers are "massaged". They mean nothing.

I never made the assumption "that all of the illegals at(?) hard working taxpaying people." In fact, I clearly stated in my post that many are not.
To summarize the inference of my original post (which you obviously failed to comprehend), if you do not work, you do not produce and therefore do not contribute to the GDP. Welfare recipients do not 'produce' and therefore contribute NOTHING to the GDP.

They DO "contribute"...by proxy...but it's "hidden". You see...ALL the companies and people do work for things that the poor get. So ALL the stuff the poor CONSUME is counted. Just not the fact that the government had to borrow to pay for it.

I hate to get technical. Both of you are confusing production and consumption. GDP is used as a proxy measure of what is produced in a country. If a farmer produces 3 blocks of cheese, one he sells to his neighbor, one the govt buys and gives to someone on welfare and one is sold in Canada. The different ways the cheese is consumed has no effect on the calculation of GDP.

NO AJ, dougie is NOT correct.
The "production" that went into the block the government bought for the poor shouldn't be counted because the money was BORROWED. The poor cost the nation over a $ trillion a year...coincidentally...we go into debt over a $ trillion a year.
You CAN'T count as bona fide production that which relies on debt. Like an equation...you MUST balance it out...and they do not. They don't subtract the debt from the GDP. 10 years ago it wasn't so important...but lately...the deficit has been huge...and it matters.
The government numbers are mostly fake...massaged, seasonal adjustments, adjustments for weather, a disaster...anything it takes to make it look good.
