A walk in shower is an option on the new homes that we are considering building. My wife is concerned that she will be cold in the shower even with the water running. Has anyone experienced this ? What are the advantages and the disadvantages of the walk in shower ?

I wanted the walk in shower for the ease of cleaning. Shower doors are always such a pain to keep clean, and I didn't want to have to deal with it as I got older. We also thought about how convenient it would be if either of us needed a walker or wheelchair in the future. We don't plan on moving again!
We have a walkin shower. Never experienced cold, even with the fan on. We love it. Go for it.

The walk-in shower was one of the reasons we bought our house. I just love it. I'm sure you will, too. I can't think of any downside to it.

We have a walk-in and have two shower heads. No problem with being cold.

I'm with your wife on this one. Although concessions must be made when deciding on the options offered when home building in TV and my husband is going to have his walk-in shower.
If what what others have said is true, I should be pleasantly surprised when I don't experience being cold in my new walk-in shower for the first time.

Love my walk-in. I was constantly having trouble getting in and out of my tub/shower up north. Here I have a nice place to sit, and a flexible showerhead with a special holder next to rhe "bench."
Sometimes, especially in the chillier months, I think about putting in a heatlamp, but mostly I just dry off quickly!

A Roman shower with back seat is definnitely a selling point of houses sold here in TV. You will not be disappointed with this option and "being cold" has never been a problem. Its one option that you will definitely get your moneys worth out of today and in the future if you ever want to sell the property.
Guarantee when your friends or family visit you from up north, the Roman walk in shower will be the one feature that will catch their eye!

This is another good although subjective question. I found the walk in showers to be dark inside, could be just because of the location of the ones I went in. We have the traditional walk in shower (although the step down is only 2 inches) with glass (frosted, not clear) and find it to be much lighter. As far as cleaning, whether it's tile or glass you still have to clean it. I for one have no problems cleaning our glass......GN

We found that our lovely master bath with walk-in shower was not perfect - until we put in a solar tube. Wow! What an amazing difference! The room looks much larger and clean looks like sparkly clean.

The solar tube is the way to go. We also have one in our master bath and it is great!:a040:
