Can anyone recommend some bands that don’t just cater to the line-dancer crowd? That play some music for the under-75 crowd, or even under 70-crowd? Maybe we’re too young to be here, I’m 67 and my wife is 61...

Check out Danny B.
Tuesdays: World of Beer (SS) 2-5 The Pub 7-10
Wednesdays: Amerikanos 2-5
Thurs: Gators Dockside SS 1-4
He plays electric guitar and banjo and is more talented than a lot of acts you'll see at the square. He's 57 so it's not a bunch of boring snooze music.

I also agree with Uncle Bob's Rock Shop. Very talented musicians! And don't forget to check out the always entertaining Rocky and the Rollers. Can't go wrong with them!

Ssnakeyez -- JR can play most anything. Especially good at blues, southern rock, and Jimi H!
Enjoy!!!!

Mark Seymour plays a lot of "younger-styled" music. I'm not sure where he continuously plays at, though. He used to be a Cody's at Sumter on Monday's.

I believe Mark is the lead singer of Second Slice also.

You don't get out too much if that is all you are hearing. There are many groups that play here that are in our age group. You will learn that line dancers can dance to anything that is playing. I understand why it is so popular with some but I just ignore them.

I haven't seen them mentioned on here before, but when we were down in Sept we went to hear "3 For The Road Plus 1" play at LSL and really enjoyed them.

In defense of the Entertainment Company, they can't satisfy everyone with their choice of dance music.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. But if you're referring to the hit of the 50s,60s and early 70s as snooze music, you might be out of luck. I haven't heard any bands playing heavy metal or acid rock in The Villages and I doubt that we will.

Hooligans and American Martian. Both are great.
However, those line dancers can line dance to anything. I’ve seen them line dance to guitar solos, a waltz, punk rock, everything.

In addition to mentioned bands, He Said, She Said is very good. Todd Fulcher, the He in the band is an absolutely fantastic guitar player. If you like bands such as Santana, Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Almond Bros. Then you will really enjoy them. They don't get the line dancing crowd, just the music crowd.
