Does anyone with a pool and lanai under roof have their lanai enclosed wiith glass/acrylic sliders?

We have a large pool with birdcage and a fairly good sized lanai under roof. We've seen many closed in lanai's but not any with a pool and birdcage.

Thanks

We have a pool/spa under a birdcage. We removed the entire screen wall between the pool deck and lanai which created spacious open access. The roof overhang and westerly direction of that opening result in little or no wind and rain entering the lanai. But we glassed in the south lanai wall which eliminated wind and rain which did come in on that side. If you keep one wall open you can use tempered glass, which is safe and permanently clear. If you enclose the entire lanai, you must either use acrylic, which scratches and clouds up easily, or glass, which classifies the area as an "interior" room. That requires that the floor be raised to the same height as the rest of the house and a new tax assessment.

I actually want the entire under roof closed in with sliders. I know many folks who have acrylic sliders and yes, they can scratch but cloudiness isn't an issue. Of course it depends on the quality of the acrylic. But friends who have had these types of sliders on their lanai haven't had any issues with cloudiness and their enclosures are five plus years old.

I'm presently getting some quotes and the pricing is all over the place!
