Need someone to foster a cat

My son is coming to town with 2 dogs and a cat - I have 2 dogs and a bird - would like to know if someone would be interested in fostering his cat until he finds himself a permanent home (he is keeping the cat) permanent home will be for himself and his family - he is getting out of the army -

I assume it's the cat with the bird that's the problem.

It's doubtful you will find someone to foster the kitty, but couldn't you put the bird in a room where the cat can't get to it?

The cat is the visitor - the poor bird is just becoming playful and friendly - will change his personality

What is the age and the sex of the cat? Does it stay indoors all the time, or does it want to go out? Our cat lived 19 years so we are reluctant to get another, but a foster arrangement might be a good alternative. Do you have an estimate of how long the cat may a foster home?

Might need a foster for about 2 months - it is an indoor cat - cannot go outside = very well-behaved. .

Make sure you have a written agreement with the foster stating the cat is to be returned.

Poor little kitty, coming so far and being frightened to death on the trip, away from familiar surroundings, and now being removed from his dad, his furry dog siblings and his grandmother who he was looking forward to meeting.;) Being deprived of pesting the birdie. Poor kitty.

Couldn't you just put the bird in your room and keep the door closed? Or the kitty and his litter box in a room, your sons?

Please thank your son for his service. Hoping all creatures will be safe and happy. Our kitties are sweet but wouldn't be nice to him. It would probably take two months for all to calm down and accept each other, knowing kitties.

Don't let anyone make you feel bad that isn't stepping up to the plate to help you. You are doing the right thing trying to get your son's cat placed for as bit. I know it's easy for everyone to say "can't you just" but how far would they go in any given situation. Your pet deserves to be comfortable it it's own home and not frightened, even for a short time. Something will turn up. I have 2 kitties and can't help, sorry.

There are many homes and apartments available in surrounding area in a variety of prices. I am sure that a new home will be found very soon and the family and their fur babies will be settled and searching for a foster home for the kitty will be solved.

It is not feasible to have a bird and a cat in the same home, unless you know for sure that the cat will not want to get at the bird. I know this from personal experience. We had to build the Great Wall of Condo in Michigan when our son and DIL moved back from NY and stayed in the lower level of our condo with their three cats, to keep the curious kitties from the Cockatiel. Cats are escape artists. That condo was on three levels. I can't imagine the difficulty of separating the pets in a single-story home.

Putting a bird away in another room is not a good option. Birds, especially parrots, need to stay socialized. We did it for four days once, to keep the bird safe from a toddler and vice versa (wouldn't want her to pull the cage over on herself). The bird was not a happy camper. And it was hard to remember to keep the bedroom door closed.

This is just bad timing, or I would foster the cat. I love cats. We've had 7 of them down through the years. Crosby loves cats too!
