Scam Alert

If you receive the following e-mail:

"I hope you receive at this time ? Sorry I didn't inform you about
my traveling to the UK for a program, I am presently in ESSEX and I am
having some difficulties. I misplaced my bag on my way to the hotel
where my other valuable things were kept. I feel so ashamed, now my
passport and other belongings are been retained by the hotel management
pending the time I paid my hotel bills. I will like you to help me with
a loan of (1,850 pounds= $3,250) to pay my hotel bills and go home. I
will appreciate whatever you can afford to assist me with, I will
refund the money to you as soon as I get back, I want to know if you
can be of any assistance? Email me A.S.A.P"

Delete it . It's a scam. It may look like it is from an acquaintance but it is not. Someone has hacked into their address list.

Thanks....but with all due respect....
our gmail has the most impressive spam program imaginable
still out of the hundreds filtered each week, one might come through.
That one screams scam so loudly it would be heard over that noisy music they've been blasting at the country clubs at night!!

I agree this is pretty obvious. However. not every one has state of the art malware blockers. Also, a lot of us older folk are not as savvy as we used to be. This is, after all, a retirement community and, after all.... I may be on a slippery slope here but I felt a heads up here may be of some use.

Ironically, I got a scam message a couple of weeks ago from the UK. It was different though. He had just had a very successful trip to the US where he showed his artwork. Now he's getting so many requests for the art that he can't process the money so he needs my help!! I used to think those only came from Nigeria! Oh, well.
