We're Beverly & Gary, guardedly optimistic about moving into our Villages (Santo Domingo) home after scheduled closing on 11/30/09.

After visiting TV back in June on the 1 week program - we were sold on moving down here ASAP. A couple reasons for our sort of sudden decision to move from MA to TV: 1) I was laid off from my job in Waltham in April after 28.5 years of service, 2) She's originally from FL (Orlando) and has been trying seriously to get me to move south back to her home turf for about 5 years, after living up north for about 8.5 years. Well losing my job was just the final nudge we needed to get away from nasty New England winters once and for all; now we're both looking forward to diving right into that Villages lifestyle (lots of golf and activities) and picking up part time jobs (Gary: Engineer, Bev: Real Estate and Small Business background); perhaps in totally different areas - we'll have to see what opportunities develop!

We have plenty of questions as newbies and will be digging through this board for answers/opinions and asking TV experts out there for input. We've got a heavy-duty busy week ahead, packing up everything, driving down and starting the next phase of our lives - only regret so far is we'll be arriving there a week too late to see Glen Beck (we're thinking, he'll probably be back - he knows where to find the best & brightest folks); hopefully some of you folks out there will post comments following his upcoming visit.

That's about all for now,
Bev & Gary

Bev & Gary.....

I gather that you may be from my "neck 'o the woods" there in MA if you worked in Waltham. Lexington was my hometown and just curious to know if you lived in that area. If you worked in Waltham all those years, then you're familiar with my favorite bestest restaurant ever, the Chateau, yes? I always need my fix on their eggplant parm and also their toasted raviolies when up North. yummmm!!!

You will never regret the move here to TV, for sure. Hubby and I have been here about ten years (hubby longer here than me as we met here in TV) and just love it. We're snowbirds and spend summers in MA where it's nice to spend time with the family, however, we are always so happy to return to TV.

Welcome and best of luck in your move to "paradise."

We're from Worcester MA and bought in the Villages last April. Hoping to move down there full time in the summer.

Thanks folks for the welcome, after playing a few rounds of golf with some wonderful people at TV, meeting a bunch of others at the evening shows at Lake Sumter landing, talking to our new next door neighbor (from New Hampshire!) and already meeting a few from central MA area (grew up in Worcester, lived many years in Holden, then Rutland & now Leominster for past 5 years) - we're ready to settle in at TV.

Bill & Barb, I'm familiar with the Chateau in Waltham, having gone there for several company functions over the years, I recall their Italian food as being darned good.

We'll be there in 9 days!!

Hey there Doreen,

Not surprised to run across another Wormtown (Worcester) native after already bumping into a few folks from Leominster, one from Braintree and now one from Lexington in just a couple weeks of visiting & talking here. Apparently MA is 8th on the state list of people moving to TV.

I grew up in north Worcester (north of Indian Lake - Indian Hill area) - what part of Worc are you from?
