I liked VW air cooled engines, brought 68 bus for 200 bucks. Was stepping stone to basic mechanic's. One problem was it was COOOOOOOLD in northern Missouri winter!

You had 60-40 heat if you drove 60 the front area would heat up to 40. I installed a gas heater for the Chicago winters, it got so hot it melted my floor mat. AAH Good Times

Had a 1964 VW bug, and the heater vent stiuck open on a 90 degree day when,
I was stuck in a traffic backup...oh what fun!
If I recall the vents were opened and closed via a cable which broke.

About everything ran on cable or linkage to the back. Use to have long hill climb out of forest city mo. I was lucky to hit top speed of 40 MPH. But, I could lay rubber on the ice, snow was problem?

You might check with “All German motor works” in Leesburg on Main Street across from the bowling alley. They take care of our 2006 Mercedes convertible and I’ve seen VW’S parked there. Highly recommended.
