View Full Version : Golf Carts for sale on lawns
My Daily Run
03-04-2018, 08:15 AM
I drive Hillsborough and Moyer Loop daily and I have noticed more and more carts for sale on lawns of homes on corner lots or in back yards, if this is not stopped I am concerned that we will see car lots and used furniture sprawled on lawns with "for sale" on them. Your opinion !!!

If that’s the biggest problem we have to worry about then I guess we are in pretty good shape. The world is not coming to an end because someone has their 2011 Yamaha for sale on their lawn.

What's wrong with a happy ending now and then? :D
On a more serious note: I do agree, it's not pretty but is a "cart for sale" in a driveway rather than a lawn the same or worse or better? Or 12 carts PARKED on a front lawn for a Mahjong game? What about "Estate Sale" or "Garage Sale" or "Moving Sale" signs (with or without balloons) on every corner in the neighborhood of one of those sales? Or large religious symbols on holidays stuck in lawns for weeks at a time (UH OH - religion!) or 6' high Flamingo's .... or or or or.

St Charles today. Two carts in one yard with for sale signs. Looked like a used cart lot. Some always push the minor exception window.

Correct but they have little enforcement powers in reality, all they do is write the homeowner a letter.
If they still don't comply they tell you to take them to court.
For all of you that think filing complaints you remain anonymous, think again, anyone can find out who it is.
Stop being pansies, go over to your neighbors house say hello have a beer work it out.

Again, the clash of cultures and child raising. In your face versus a turn in to the rules committee. It makes both sides see red when the others do it. But ONE IS effective. If one is reported to the deeds violation folks you are fined. UNTIL the nasty thing is changed or removed.Or the house is sold. It is a legal thing, that fine.
When you tell someone they are stupid, and unaware and rule breakers, they are never gonna like you again and it will be unpleasant forever between the two of you. Let them guess, I say, who dropped the dime. Use the phone.

One of the reasons I moved here was not see this stuff on peoples lawns which in my opinion detracts from the beauty of this place. Sadly many ignore deed restrictions and dont care about those that adhere to them. Nothing wrong with calling Community Standards...I would

Going to Community Standards for this is a huge waste of time. By the time you get through the process (can easily take months) the cart will most likely be sold and gone. Same with yard sales, homes for sale by owner, and all the other short term annoyances for some, all that stuff will be over long before Community Standards is effective. Now, back to that lamp post :)

The majority of the villages residents have enough to do on the average day to stay busy. Yes. There are kooks every where. Don't decide what you read on TOTV and take it as gospel and be a determining factor on deciding to move here.

While to some this may sound petty, I agree completely with you. We moved here in large part as a result of the extensive efforts taken but both the developers and the vast majority of home owners to keep The Villages as an oasis. There were rules in places when we bought and we will adhere to them.

Like I stated in the post about "yard ornaments and junk", if the cart in the yard offends some of you so much, pull you big boy pants/big girl panties up, walk up to the front door, ring the doorbell and proceed to tell the owners how much you dislike THEIR cart being for sale in THEIR yard. Express your displeasure to the owners in person.

I’m sitting here in my easy chair trying to figure which threads I like the most “poop threads” or “deed restrictions threads”. It’s a very slow night.... Although I really like dog stories the passion regarding deed restrictions is at least equal to the poop threads. My Village is relatively new and as we walk around the hood about a fourth of the yards are legally technically speaking out of compliance. But guess what? The landscapes and homes are absolutely beautiful. The neighborhood in a nutshell looks fantastic. Occasionally a resident will put a golf cart for sale in their driveway or front yard. In a few days it’s gone. Our neighborhood is beautiful...... and it’s going to stay that way because we are a deed restricted community. Someone once said “You can’t stay young forever, but,you can be immature for the rest of your life”. anonymous
