In what village is the newest TV Major Rec Center located (just west of Buena Vista Blvd., south of Sumter Sq.)? Is it open? Is it similar in size/layout to TV's other major rec. centers?

......the Sea Crest Regional Recreation Center corner of S. Buena Vista and southeren end of Bailey trail.

Road my bike thru there today and it is not open, but seems to be getting close.

Palm trees were delivered today and being taken off truck and planted...other landscaping underway.

From outside it looks like other Rec centers in area..Colony, etc. ....... Don't know about inside.

I believe the newest recreation center Sea Breeze is located in the Village of St. Charles.;)

Will it have a Fitness Center? The one at Colony is really getting crowded, and it will be even worse starting in Jan.

Is there a downloadable map that shows all TV Rec Centers, incl. Regionals and well as village rec. centers?

Sure hope so. Thanks.

Avista... I had heard that SeaBreeze will include a fitness center, but, can't swear that I ever saw that in writing.

I believe it is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2010.

Here's a link to a one page map of rec centers (for north of 466A)

I am pretty sure SeaBreeze is a regional rec center like Colony Cottage and not like Odell which is a neighborhood rec center. Which means it will have a sports pool and probably a work out room I would think.

The bathrooms near the pool (I think that is what they are) imitate the public restrooms at Lake Sumter Landing in color and style. You know the ones, that have multi color outsides and look like beach cabanas? It looks very charming from a distance.

I can't WAIT to see the interior decor. The inside decor in our rec centers is always expensive, over the top and a bit overdone.....but very dramatic, particularly the newer ones.

Colony Cottage is charming, but is like your grandmothers parlor on steroids with all kinds of great accessories, all old, moderatly expensive I would guess, (where did they find them all?)and mixed in with ordinary lovely things of the Victorian era. The color scheme at Colony is pink and light teal, very pretty, not likely to be found in that era. The decorating in public areas and in model homes gets better all the time. I love to see it.

Yes, Seabreeze is having a fitness center, and it is suppose to be the biggest in TV.

Champion,

Thank you for your link to TV rec centers. It's a keeper, too.

What is the primary difference between the size/scope of these two rec. center configurations:

* Village Recreation Centers

* Neighborhood Recreation Centers

I stopped by the Colony Cottage Fitness Club today and they confirmed that Seabreeze will be the 4th in their current collection of membership clubs. This is in addition to Mulberry Grove, Laurel Manor and Colony Cottage. These are managed by The Villages Community Development District and require membership ranging from 1 month to 12 months in addition to resident/guest day passes.

Seabreeze should help reduce crowding at the other facilities which become quite busy, especially in the morning, starting in Jan. and continuing until approximately April 1.

We just got back from England and joined Colony for a few months. We should have realised it will be much busier from Jan-March. Does anyone know if it is possible to go to another Fitness center, for instance, Laurel Manor, if ours gets too full or is the membership only for the one you originally joined?

Laurel Manor Rec. Center, I have been told, is also busy-busy in the mornings Jan thru March (it's the snowbirds).

imbrennen;

As I understand from the staff at Colony, once you join you can use any of the regional rec. centers. You are not restricted to the one you usually frequent. That being said, as glgene pointed out they are all busy from now until the beginning of April. The staff person I talked with indicated the best time to come in for some exercise was during traditional meal times and mid to late afternoon. The mornings you strictly stand in line and wait for equipment. Good health.
