DH and I will be in The Villages this Saturday for a one-day visit. Thanks to some suggestions from a previous post here, we will be meeting with a sales rep at 10 am and also plan to have lunch or supper at one of the country clubs. Would we need a reservation for Saturday night to eat at a country club? Also, are the Christmas decorations up?

Thanks,
Margaret in CT

Enjoy your visit...you will learn a lot in a day.

The country clubs do not take reservations. Prime time for lunch is 12-2 and dinner 500-700. Some will be more crowded than others.

The tree lighting on the squares is tonight, so, yes, the squares will be lit up by Saturday and neighborhood/rec center decorations are popping up every day. I think you'll see a lot of Christmas spirit by this Saturday.

Enjoy your visit.

Some holiday decorations are up. Today (12/01) is the "official" Tree Lighting Ceremony at both town squares - 7 PM this evening. Reservations at a country club are generally not required (and maybe not taken for parties of less than 8) but, depending on the time you go, you may have to wait a little while. Not to worry though, they all have a bar which will gladly serve you your favorite adult beverage while you wait.

Will you have time for the tour from the LSL sales center? It is a ride around TV-no sales pitch. It would be nice if you could go before you meet your sales rep.

I wish you could stay longer. Staying ONE day is like taking a teeny, tiny sip of the most delicious chocolate milk shake of your life!

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, one day isn't much and we expect we will want a LSV in January. If all goes as expected, we will be putting our house on the market in February. What a scary thought, but I'm sure many of you have gone through this!

And can't wait to see the Christmas trees, hoping to hit both squares!

Margaret, if you would like to meet us sometime Saturday (I know you will have a lot to do, but just in case), PM me and we'll set something up. Or if you want a personal tour rather than use the realtor, PM me also, and we'll pick you up.... Have a great time and enjoy it.... TV is a wonderful place. (just don't make noise after 8pm,,,,,kidding!! )

I could be all wrong, but 4 years ago, we tried to make a Lifestyle reservation in January or so (my memory may be failing me here - it has before) for March and couldn't - booked up. That was about the time they were changing everything anyway, and about the height of the market.

But, my suggestion would be to make your reservation asap as it may already be booked. you can probably always cancel or try to reschedule. Jan-March, and even April, is prime time.

Margaret,

Where do you live in Conn? As you can see I have lived in a few different locations!

Good luck. One day is not a lot of time, but things I might do are...

1. If you are having b'fast in TV go to either TooJay's (LSL and SS) or The Verandah (LSL). Another great alternative is the Havana CC on Odell Circle.

2. The Verandah also does a nice lunch - as do all the CCs.

3. For dinner, if you want to eat a at CC, I would avoid Cane Garden - only because it is very popular and waiting would not be my choice if I had only one day. However, the food there is consistently good, so if you don't mind the wait... Another great restaurant is Red Sauce at LSL.

Enjoy!

Katezbox,

We are in Vernon, CT. I see you were in East Granby at one point. We are traveling to Disney this trip with my neice and her sons who live in East Granby, still a nice quiet town. But I'm guessing of your four Connecticut towns that Madison was your favorite?

Hi Margaret;

My wife and I are life long Windsor folks, that is up until last year. I spent 30 yrs at P&W while she was at SNET. My older sister lives in East Granby off of Holcomb Hill. Small world, enjoy your stay here and most certainly you will want to come back for more.

Oh Great!! I'm so glad you would like to meet. It will be a lot nicer than going around with only the realtor. I'll contact you and we can set something up. Can't wait to meet you. Kath

Hi,

Actually I loved Branford and East Granby the best, although I lived in Madison the longest. We were very near the beach in Branford and had the most wonderful neighborhood. When in East Granby had a beautiful view over the hills.

Here in TV we have been also lucky to have a terrific group of neighbors. Good luck on your visit. We are going to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra in Orlando or I try to meet up with you...

We also had a difficult last Feb for our LSV. TV was booked, so stayed at the Hampton Inn. They did give us a Rep to work with so it worked out well. Just didn't get the freebies which really didn't matter to us.

Thanks to all advice here. We had a wonderful visit on Saturday and were able to book a LSV January 15 thru 19. We found the perfect house, but have to sell up north first. I doubt that house will be available when we are ready, but at least our agent has a really good idea of what we are looking for. If DH had his way, we would have moved in that day! I think LSV will just confirm what we already know.

Thank God for GPS! We were able to find our way around quite easily. I just selected a golf course for the area we wanted to see and we got there without too many problems. Ate lunch at the Veranda and RJ Gators for supper. Sumter Landing seemed pretty quiet for a Saturday afternoon and evening, but weather wasn't that great.

Hope to meet some of you in January and more when we become Villagers.

Margaret
